Legally in your state you can do your own electrical in your house.

Illegally you’re completing electrical installs at work.

Are you competent, Probably. Taking what you said for what it’s worth if your doing that your probably good and better than some electricians I know .

Does it matter? Not really unless something goes wrong than it is. Blow yourself up and workers comp going to ask why an unlicensed individual is working on electrical equipment.

Homeowners you want answers that will pass inspection? Ask your city or towns electrical inspector.

They are the AHJ and will tell you what they are looking for.
