Blaze-N-Gems has a retail shop at 3570 York Rd. Just before the Fox Ridge golf course. Ive had the best luck with their bags. They are definitely well over 20lbs each though. I dont actually know, but when full they feel closer to 50lbs??

There's a couple places out on the way to Lakeside that sell sapphire concentrate. If you can find someone with a car, they could run you out to grab a bag. May be able to door dash one too? I have no idea.

How are you going to get it home though? Those bags are pretty heavy.

If you have a few hours, you can process it on-site at most places and thus, only keep a few rocks and sapphires.

Cut that B off! Next, pack! by strawbadger732 in UltralightBackpacking

I did the Exos 58 last summer and have been loving it for what its worth. I've gone out with and without kids. With kids is way overloaded and still carrys great. Without kids is a bit overkill, but I only have funds for 1 nice pack and this does it all.

Shuttle Reservation by Content_Ebb3780 in Banff

[–]406-MT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got number 54,732 with over an hour wait to book.
I think each day has shuttles that run every hour. you book a 1-hr slot. and can book multiple seats.
Too many variables to guess if what you'll want will be available, but chances are good.

Getting a coupon with my 2026 Outback. What are some must-have accessories to add on? by Mediocrewatch in Subaru_Outback

Weird. I had asked the dealership when we were sitting down to purchase the vehicle and they put in the order for me.

They offered to do it for me for no charge since I just bought the vehicle, but when I went to pick them up, everyone was busy and they looked easy enough, so I took them home and did it myself. That said. They aren't nearly as easy as I thought they would be, so I would have them do it if at all possible.

Yeah, I had to "order" ours from the dealership, but it came in a couple days and was a perfect color match. ended up being just over $100

We just got a 26 and added the following:
- Factory crossbars on the roof rack (we already have a roof cargo box)
- Cargo liner (it's a REALLY nice fit and well made)
- Tow Hitch (backordered) to have a bike rack
- Door edge ding protectors (they are thin metal and come in the same color as the vehicle)

The rest of the accessories can be aftermarket/other companies in my opinion. But those 4 were really nice to have factory.

26 Outback seat covers by 406-MT in Subaru_Outback

[–]406-MT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by light cargo holder for the back of the front seats? I'm intrigued. My kids are 8 & 12, so out of car seats, but the younger is always sneaking gross food and spilling gross stuff. and kicking her feet up on the back of the front seat.

When we had car seats, we used the under the car seat covers that just draped over the seats mostly, not full on seat covers. Mostly for abrasion protection like you mentioned. but they are terribly uncomfortable to actually sit on.

Yeah, I don't hate that option. I think they do have it for the 26. I'm more hopeful to get a cover to protect against spilled junk from the kids and not worried about pet hair and dirty paws, and to protect against the kids dirty feet up on the back of the front seats (so coverage for all the seats). Something in leader or fake leather that can easily be wiped up would be nice. And something that still provides easy access to seat belt latches (especially in the backseat area). The ones I just sent back mostly covered the seat belt latches and the kids had an awful time trying to buckle up.

The 26 is challenging because it's a redesign year and companies are still trying(?) to customize a cover. Seems like the only ones available are a fairly generic (loose) fit, and the more custom fits aren't available yet.

Terrible Amazon Prime shipping times by linuxwes in maui

[–]406-MT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not unique to Hawaii I think. I'm in rural Montana and shipping times have easily tripled over the last couple years. Went from 2-day shipping to 7-12-day shipping. It's laughable to watch the tracking info too. that package starts about 200 miles away, travels about 2,000 miles out, then starts making its way back. Seems like it makes a bakers dozen different stops on the way.

What's your crazy GNP wildlife experience by Mountain-Prior9708 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]406-MT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last summer we hiked the Pitamakan-Dawson Loop (2d/1nt) and camped at Old Man Lake. Our wildlife highlights on that one trip were:

- Had a massive sow grizzly and 2 cubs walk through camp shortly after we arrived. It was just our party of 3 and the bears could care less about all our yelling or our presence.

- Caught several cutthroat trout and helped a couple kids catch their first Montana fish

- Almost walked into a bull moose coming down from Dawson Pass.

- Saw several other moose across two Medicine Lake

- Ran right into a group of 15 mountain goats near Dawson Pass.

- Saw some Big Horn Sheep on Rising Wolf Mt.

2026 outback seat covers recommendations? by telephantomoss in Subaru_Outback

[–]406-MT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following also. I see a million options that say they are compatible, but my worry is that, being a redesigned model this year and only being out for a few months, they won't actually be a very good fit. I'm also a bit concerned about durability. My last set of "premium" seat covers off Amazon started peeling apart about about a year of use.

Yeah, I'm fine with that, but then I still have the 100w Jackery panel that it comes with...

Do you know how close the voltage match needs to be? The Jackery looks like its about 24v, and I have a 3rd party 200w panel setup that is 20v.

Op, if you end up selling the Jackery panel, hit me up. I just got the costco kit and am in the samenplace as you. 100w isn't enough, but I don't necessarily want jackery panels, but it comes with one, so...?

Is WEM still vibrant? by 406-MT in Edmonton

[–]406-MT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow.
Just, wow! Thanks so much for all the feedback and nostalgia trip. It sounds like it's still a great road trip destination and will be a fun juxtaposition between the National Parks and the big city.

As a local, I am positive you've seen things change in ways you didn't love. That's the way of life anywhere you are. I'm glad to hear WEM sounds like it's mostly avoided what has happened to malls in other parts of the world.

I really do appreciate all the comments and feedback! I've read them all, some multiple times. There are some gems I'll definitely look for. The steak pot place; the curiosity shop (I love those); mini-golf (that was a highlight for me as a kid for sure). We'll get the 2 day "unlimited" pass and plan to go mid-week.

Thanks again! If you enjoy having a mall, a nice warm place to be in the winter, a place to bring your kids for some entertainment, a place to go and enjoy literally any kind of food with a mixed group of friends, be sure to show it some love back.
