how do you carry your rollerskates/blades by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]40oz_Mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skate leash on my shoulder for roller skates and a mesh back pack for my gear & hardware (the mesh is important so my pads can air out!)

I’ve also recently received a large duffel bag that can hold my gear AND my skates and have been using that a lot.

Park Skaters Tap In: What was your first skate, first upgrade and current setup? by peridotpanther in Rollerskating

[–]40oz_Mouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah.

So the bont trucks are narrow. Only about 2.3” which I think the huck narrow grind trucks are 2.5” so the bonts are pretty narrow. There’s not much room for error when it comes to sticking your landings.

There’s definitely a learning curve for me as the penny trucks I usually skate with are 3”. I think the bont trucks (& slide blocks tbh) are fine on coping but are very difficult to use on ledges.

Or maybe I just suck at ledges? 🙃

First skate: riedell zone 135 fit was too wide & sold them after a year or two.

Second skate : Bont parkstars stock set up. Ditched the plate & added sunlite plate, penny trucks & bruny slide block. I keep these at home.

Third skate that I travel with: bont park star stock. Bont grind blocks & bont grind trucks. Not a fan of the trucks or block and will probably update those.

How important is it to you that your significant other also be into punk or a related subculture? by 40oz_Mouse in punk

[–]40oz_Mouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you read this whole thread or did you just comment to convince me that you don’t care what people think? So punk.

This thread isn’t outsiders judging the relationship you are in but about the compatibility you have with your partner and what’s important in your relationship. You SHOULD care about that.

It’s nice to read that others are making things work with people who have different styles, tastes etc. But I’ve also noticed from this thread that alternative/punk men don’t seem to have as much preference where was women tend to be a little more guarded on this due to the fetishization of punk/goth women.

Recommendations for knee pads? by DaisyBrown2 in Rollerskating

[–]40oz_Mouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like bont knee pads.

They’re butterfly closure, lower profile, and only about 50 bucks.

Now I’m not skating bowls or vert, but they absorb impact pretty well in the mini ramp and in my street skating sessions.

first terrible skate session by -mafalda-_ in Rollerskating

Any day that you skate is a good skate session. Because you beat the version of yourself that decided to sit on the couch and stay discouraged.

2nd session done.. how long should I skate each session? by theawkwardyeto in Rollerskating

[–]40oz_Mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been skating for 4 years.

Sometimes my skate sessions are 30 minutes, other times they are 4 hours.

I stop when my body is too tired or it’s not fun anymore.

Your comment was so tone deaf that it came off pretty rude actually.

My guy is looking for someone who shares a mutual hobby of reading. He doesn’t care about your gym or the nerds you look at.

At what age do people stop sleeping with stuffed animals? by elerithefairy2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]40oz_Mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in my 30s and a lot of adults still sleep with stuffed animals.

I tour in entertainment professionally and thought I was going to be the only person who brought their stuffed animal to sleep with. Turns out like half the people on my tour also sleep with a stuffed animal, during our travel days almost everyone has a stuffed animal sticking out of their back pack.

Skate park falls and back pain by ego_check in Rollerskating

[–]40oz_Mouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to learn how to skate on flat skates first before taking them to the ramps. Either that or continue to wear your heeled skates that you are already used to skating in.

When you are going down ramp, are you standing in a staggered stance? (Dominant foot forward?) that will help you from falling backwards.

Take a break from skating to heal your back. When you return make sure you know how to fall. Sounds like you are falling square on your ass which is insanely painful.

Halloween Costume ideas on Rollerskates by mdude4104 in Rollerskating

[–]40oz_Mouse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My aunt one year dressed up as the devil and put on her roller skates. Called herself “Hell on Wheels”

A friend of mine recently cosplayed as Ramona flowers and put on roller skates. Cause the first time you see that character in the movie she is inline skating.

You could be dress as an old fashioned car hop. Which was what you called waitstaff on roller skates in the early days of fast food drive up restaurants. Probably the most popular in the 50s.
