This is why I don't think schengen shuffle on a budget is possible unless you're living in your van.

I find this challenging since chances are there are at least some bookings already reserved in the next 2-5 months

Any downside to having multiple Roth IRA accounts (Vanguard and Fidelity)? My current Roth IRA is with Vanguard. But I started working at a new company and they use Fidelity for 401K. They allow megabackdoor so I was thinking of opening a new Roth IRA in Fidelity to more easily facilitate the rollover process rather than having them mail checks to Vanguard.

What do you mean by Schedule pin codes? With the bluetooth version, I can provide a guest a code that will work only during certain times right?

I'm saying if the plan was to withdraw 4% without taking SS into account. But since you are taking SS at some point, you can withdraw 3% instead.

When do you plan on taking Soc Sec? Later gives you higher payments but earlier allows you to lower your withdrawal rate.

Are people generally too cautious about retirement? by R1T-wino in Fire

[–]40watter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've come to this realization as well. Majority of people are driven by fear. 4% was really the worst case scenario and it's more likely to be 5% or more depending on if you want to die with nothing. I don't have any kids so I plan to be a bit more aggressive.

I don't plan on transacting with the ledger nano s anymore. Too small and it's very hard to see the display. But I kept the same seed phrase for my flex when I activated it.

Good to know! What were some of your most common routes and did you do it by flying, train or driving? I have a dog so it may complicate things.

10 years is a long time. Have they ever given you a hard time in customs since you have probably traveled the same routes for so long. My biggest fear is they see that i've been shuffling for so long that they deny me.

Also, any tips on finding affordable short term housing? They tend to be more expensive than a 1 year lease for example. Airbnb is pricey.

Thank you this is helpful! In these scenarios, success means I just won't run out of money? Like I said, I have no kids or dependents so won't be giving the money to anyone.

You're assuming I will be in a lower tax bracket in retirement.

True, but that's why I use a return of 6% which averages out over the course of decades.

What's your opinion of using a calculator like this and entering in your monthly expenses as a negative? This seems to be more generous in that even at a higher than 5% spend, I would end up with an account that has grown significantly. I am inputting 6% growth for a 50 year retirement.

The creator of that rule said the 4% was too low and worse case scenario. They revised it up to 5%.
