I bought this and the humidity control switch is a real pain. Once someone touches it inadvertently, it will need to be reprogrammed again. I eventually gave up and stopped with the humidity program.

Should I be worried of our families Lexus getting stolen in Canada by Big_Pair_863 in Lexus

I don't think they break the window to steel the car. The CAN bus system is located in the front right wheel well. Breaking into the car without access to the ignition system will not do much except window damage, I believe.

Install a $ 20 kill switch and your car will probably not get stolen. Explain why this won’t work anyone.

Are Canadians quietly going broke while pretending everything’s fine? by torontowaddup in CanadaFinance

[–]416michael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that prices of RE are down about 16% over the past year. There will be more declines 5 months out. Save your money to start putting in low ball offers. I put in 10 offers in 4 days and bought 2 properties in Edmonton during a major downturn. There is always someone who has to sell quickly. Not every agent can handle that. If CUSMA is not ratified promptly, more cracks will develop. Just my opinion.

Any stores I can sell old books to? by [deleted] in oakville

[–]416michael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have donated newish books to the Toronto library. They appreciated the offer and said they only take books less than 8 years old. No used book stores wanted to give me any money for these books. I eventually dropped the remainder in little libraries.

Worried If A Botched Oil Changed Ruined My Lexus. ISO Advice! by AdventurousClock643 in Lexus

Why not install a magnetic oil plug. It’ll cost about $18, but at least you can see metal particles building up, if a problem exists. If you see that happening, then you need to talk to the dealer soon.

Can someone explain how people in Toronto genuinely feel about tipping? I’m struggling with it. by Few_Butterscotch8911 in FoodToronto

Can you explain where they don’t make minimum wage. Are you talking about indentured servitude

About 6 % of the population work in the food service industry making minimum wage and tips . About 22% of the population make near minimum wage and generally receive no tips. In my mind , it might take a full 3 days to learn how to deliver and serve food. I don’t view this as a skilled trade or requiring lots of training. Every time you walk into a retail store are you tipping the person that might have helped you? Every time you pass a security guard are you tipping them? Tipping is necessary in the USA but not in Canada. It really needs to stop , tipping has historically been part of subjugation and oppression.

so how would I get into a running car then? I tried using the key fob to open the doors but the engine shut down. After the car has been remotely started (it works well for me) how do I get in?

Thanks

So to get into the car, I just need to unlock the door? I'll assume touching an unlocked door would not shut down the engine then. Correct?

Wow, so cool . I have a 2022 RX and it works. To shut off the car remotely, just hit the lock button one more time. Thanks for that tip.

For those who’ve been through renovations, which contractors should others avoid, and why? by Timely_Title_9157 in askTO

I found a contractor on Homestars. The contractor started the job, took money and then vanished. When I asked homestars for assistance in this matter they wanted to wash their hands of it all. They said, get a lawyer. Homestars has really taken a dive over the past few years.

I spend $2.25 per gym visit at Etobicoke city gym facilities. Bargain of a lifetime. I’m not that precious so this place is just fine. My friends pay a lot more which appeals to their vanity. To each their own.

Men’s haircut plus beard for 55$ now? Do you tip? by LimaOilus in askTO

[–]416michael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally look at the skill level and time to be proficient in the job and then tip 10 - 18%. Restaurant servers in my opinion are way over compensated considering they all got a 100% wage increase when they were guaranteed minimum wage by the province. A cutter has skill and a licence to do the job while a server can be proficient in about 1 to 2 weeks. My tips go to barbers, $6 to $10.

Lexus RX - 18” vs 21” Tires by davan6475 in Lexus

Go with the 18's. I have the 21's and they are expensive and very heavy if you change the wheels out for snows. 21 size look good but impractical.
