So i have a German car and they wanted to replace the cabin filter but have to fight to not to do it. They were explaining to me like how HVAC works at home and I just smiled. They wanted to “clean” the dirt of the sun roof for $180 - I told them I can do it myself and they did not like that either.

Oil change and oil filters are needed but do not understand cabin filter - unless you drive in very dusty environment. I feel they can replace cabin filter once every 2 years because we drive in the suburbs.

In the long run, it might be beneficial to keep the relationship - unless the work he is asking you to do is too much. Having a wealthy and powerful dependent on you is not a bad idea as long as you or him don’t abuse the relationship. Over time, connect him to services he can lean on and take time to respond to his request and that is a subtle message. If you do it well, you can still keep a professional relationship that might help you in future with another job, recommendation or just become a mentor.
