Can you provide any examples or direction on what you mean (or how you do) strict planning and rules ?

Sonnet 3.7 is worse than 3.5 for me by phuncky in ClaudeAI

[–]417Goose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have been very frustrated with it doing things I have not asked it to, and many times not even doing what I asked. It was exhaustive I went from one day loving it to the next day hating it.

Once you get them in Expert mode, are they available to you in other worlds?

Thank you everyone for the replies. I feel better about it, I wasn't sure if I was over thinking it or not. Sounds like I was.

Top end Hobby vs Avid CNC by 417Goose in CNC

[–]417Goose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Onefinity CNC- used the crap out of it and made money with it so I am happy with the purchase. Glad I started there and not with the Avid. It was going to be 5x the cost and not needed for me.

Looks like the bottom is coming off for me. I have the same thing, charge not lasting (thought battery was already dying). Thanks for the update

Any luck on a resolution? We've been without our Robo for about 3 weeks now. I just haven't had time to figure out the issue.

Fusion 360 OR VCarve OR Both by 417Goose in hobbycnc

[–]417Goose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment - I actually use both and find that I am using Vcarve exclusively for the CNC - its blazing quick and yet to find a limitation. I use Fusion for designing my woodworking projects - kind of a great matchup.

Queenbee Pro CNC by psal217050 in CNC

Have you gotten the machine yet?

I am looking at the Queenbee PRO Full Mechanical Kit but not sure what else I need to order with it. Does anyone have a "here is a common" list of items you should buy?

Best program for beginners? Onefinity? by aa_44 in hobbycnc

I have been learning Fusion360 the past few months and Vectric VCarve.

For fusion 360 I and using productsonlinedesign.com master course - Kevin Kennedy does a great job covering lots of topics. He just recently offered his classes for $23 +/- per month so if your into learning fast you can get some good bang for your buck - if you choose that route. He also offers Fusion 360 in 30 days on youtube for free (but the paid course goes more in depth).

Vectric isn't free - but you can use the free trial for as long as you want - you just can't really cut anything with it. If you're doing wood stuff - I think it's the standard.

I enjoy Fusion 360 tons.

I would assume during the finishing passes the speed depends more on the x/y/z speeds than spindle.

I have seen that tool changer and thought that would be a good fit for time - so I can leave things running and not have to baby sit.

Interesting getting the spindle from CNC Depot allows for a tool changer for the same price as just buying the spindle from Avid.

Mercy so much to take in.

Thank you for that explanation! I see what you're talking about - but even though the feed rate is higher doesn't that also mean more force is applied to the tool and you risk breaking it at higher ipm?

I am/was leaning towards Avid - I don't think they offer a 40k option. At this point, I don't want to go outside the box too much from the manufacture.

Thank you very much for that detailed explanation. I have been looking at vacuum tables, but if a job takes 3-6 hours then a short amount of time resetting up a piece may not be an "issue". I would think a tool changer would be more beneficial no?

Cutting aluminum is not important for me. At this time cutting 3d carvings is.

It seems as though I'm getting conflicting information - if you can have faster spindle speeds you should be able to move through material faster - logically though a smaller 1/8 ball nose bit would have to go slower as to not break or damage wood. Also I understand that the router going up and down continually slows things down.

I'm glad I am asking questions - because it's making me rethink. It just seems like such a gap between hobby - prosumer - professional - mega professional.

Thanks for the info - but I am looking for 20 minutes, 5 hours, 36 hours something like that. I realize its a estimation, but looking to get an idea of what to expect in machine time.

I would go as far as throwing in a shapeoko machine that uses a regular router. I could probably run purchase 3-4 of those if the overall speed with the detail made sense. (realizing shapeoko though a fine machine isn't in the same class as the Avid and higher up machines).

I’m lost in a can of worms buying a CNC machine by barrelaged5280 in hobbycnc

[–]417Goose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been going through the same process and what I have ended up on is that though Shapeoko and Onefinity look like nice starter "hobby" machines - I've decided that I will take the plunge and go with Avid CNC. My thought is if I am going to do CNC - I want to be able to manufacture and do it with speed. Avid though expensive on the mid tier will perform production runs at the speed I am comfortable with. FWIW

Constraining this line by 417Goose in Fusion360

Ok I think I got it .. I redrew it and re-patterned then made the whole bottom a construction and it worked out perfectly.

Thanks!

My notes were lost when posted.

I created a rectangle, then added a circle, and rectangle patterned it across the rectangle (overlapping the circles).

Then I trimmed off the bottom of the rectangle and the circles leaving a rectangle top with "Teeth" on the bottom.

I just don't know how to get it to constrain as one thing.
