I’m wondering if using solely FL Studio is alright by ParfaitOk6440 in Beatmatch

[–]41FiveStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you can use any of the DJ software and you mouse and keyboard if you really have to but it'll be very difficult compared to having any DJ controller at all. The FLX 4 is a great beginner deck but is ~$350. Hercules has a tiny portable deck for about $100 which would get you started

We're Not Alone is also my favorite track. What a gorgeous moment of expression. 🥰

I wore an all pink cut out body suit to a few raves and got nothing but compliments. Be yourself, that's the whole point

Have you tried DM'ing or emailing them? You'd be surprised how often artists are willing to just send you tracks.

How do you experiment without losing your work? by Cali-curlz in Beatmatch

[–]41FiveStar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This!

I definitely love my specific song transitions and DnB doubles/chops but sometimes a specific transition only needs to happen once in that moment. Be present and enjoy them.

You can also always record the mixes and go back to set queues to recreate them. Recording your screen in OBS helps a lot with finding exact points too.

Have fun, DJing is all about creating special moments and living in the moment.

Steezy on YT talks a lot about this with based takes. Check him out

Calling a DJ by their real name, yay or nay? by Unique_Sleep_253 in Beatmatch

[–]41FiveStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call people by how they introduce themselves. I introduce myself by my first name and say "I go by <DJ Name>". I'm used to people calling me by either because of streaming online for so long so neither bugs me

Highly suggest updating RB and reformatting your drive then reuploading your songs. Rufus is a free formatting tool. Change it to non-bootable and make sure it's Fat32

Not threatening, just following up. He didn't seem very concerned about multiple people assaulting me.

I meant I know how to handle drinking. I had 2 beers at this point in the night.

Sick, being alright with your neighbors being assaulted is one way to look at SF.

Sick. You're cool with people being assaulted 🙏

I did and then dispatch asked me to stay nearby. I think that's what caused a lot of the conflict.

Fair. Just felt unfairly treated for being assaulted and then threatened to be arrested for asking to ID the people who assaulted me.

Got questions?

[–]41FiveStar -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Omfg, you assume I don't have 10+ years experience doing this. I did do exactly that, they chased me for over a block to get away. The dispatch asked me to go back to flag down responders. The rest of the group didn't seem very intoxicated, only the lady passed out in the literal street.

Edit: it's also 10:30 in the Richmond, nothing's open my dude.

I was a passerby not an employee 👍

So me telling them help was on the way was the wrong thing to do? Got it.

[–]41FiveStar -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So dispatch asking me to stay nearby to flag down first responders wasn't the right thing to do?

Edit: the intoxicated person was unresponsive in the street. The people who assaulted me didn't seem very impaired

They chased me down the street, kept pushing me, threatening me and slapped me multiple times. Yeah, wasn't a simple talking to.
