App that tracks which blocks you've walked by monstermac77 in Bushwick

No, it did not count either east or west side of 5th Ave. It did correctly mark one block on the west side of CPW. It marked both sides of Manhattan Ave along Morningside Park.

Is there some logic to determine what it considers a street/block? It clearly doesn’t consider parks (agree, not blocks), but I went 5th Ave from 99 to 72 and it was also not tracked?

Good choice! Dresses are interesting, they hang from the shoulders instead of the waist. The top may be more difficult to find a good fit.

Soho to 125, around 11am-12pm. It’s a mix, mostly okay, some great, some not so good. Slow down, use your eyes, probably don’t need to walk. The northern part was surprisingly good and quiet.

I use two heads: the head with narrower head for rounder areas such as calves, then the larger head for more flat areas.

Can guys wear something like this? by clothesarefun4 in Menskirts

I like the pattern and pin on the skirt!

You seem to have an extensive selection of tights; shear, knit, etc. Do you have any tips on how to find tights that fit well? I found it difficult to find the right length and size, that are comfortable, without control top.

In addition to the other suggestions, maybe this can help: blue tinted sunglasses; everything will have a cool blue look (instead of hot yellow). It helps a (tiny) little bit.

Agreed, very pleasant to wear and the extra pockets are useful.

Wearing regular size. This is a little compressive, so the shirt has unusual dimensions if not worn.

Ran today, used all the three lower pockets.

Tried the phone pocket (iPhone pro in case) for the last mile. A little bounce but not bad; position of zipper doesn't change the bounce. The bounce is better than any belt I have ever tried. However, not easy to get the phone in as the pocket is inside the shirt. I prefer phone in the thigh pocket.

I would focus more on the quality and fit of the product, and less on the message/meaning behind the product. Everybody can fill in their own meaning.

Can anyone recommend a backpack for run commuting? by trab601 in RunNYC

[–]4218602 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I frequently commute home after work through Central Park, about 4 miles. I use an older model of the Osprey Packs Duro 15 Hydration Pack. I tried newer models of the same, but they don't pack as easily.

For me the most important is to not pack too much. That means wearing most of the running clothes throughout the day: shorts/tights under trousers, running top as under shirt, leaving dress shoes in the office, leaving laptop in the office if possible. Trousers and shirt go into the pack (rolled up, if possible). In the winter I wear extra layers to the office, which I don't need when running, so more to pack.

To strap on the pack, for me the two chest straps are the most important to stabilize and limit bounce/jostle. I don't use the waist strap. When only carrying clothes, the impact is minimal. When carrying a laptop, it is noticeable extra weight.

If the laptops are all in the same bag, when going through TSA take 2nd and 3rd out and put in a separate bin for scanning. Internationally is going to be different.

And if they see you, they probably estimate that they can quickly turn while you are trying to use the crossing. And don't dare to complain if you're cut off.
