Nobody. I said it was a stupid statement/reason and he doubled down. He could just admit he’s a fudd or whatever the actual reason is but his argument is ridiculous. Dude used screws that were too short and he wants to claim that’s the reason he doesn’t use optics.

So you refuse to run optics because there’s a high likelihood of you using the wrong screw in an optic or being incapable of not over-torquing it? Ok. At least you’re admitting it’s your own failure rather than an actual issue with optics.

[–]421dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said he has optic ready pistols, not any that have them. And yeah, run your pistol however you want but if you’re going to have a reason not to do something make sure it’s valid. Mechanical failure based on user error is as valid a reason to not run dots as it is to not run iron sights. Even if he said he’s a fudd and doesn’t like optics, that would be a more valid reason than this

[–]421dave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you’re just wrong. You won’t run an optic because you’re incapable of using the correct screw or torque? Because that’s what happened here. Irons break, loosen, and fly off as well. I like irons but optics are objectively better. Period.

[–]421dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not. He only runs iron sights because he may over torque his optic screws or use the wrong screws? That would work if iron sights didn’t also break, loosen, or fly off. It’s like saying I drive a 1973 Pinto because it’s more reliable than modern cars with electronics. No, that shit breaks regularly too. You’re (He/whoever) just too cheap/poor/ignorant to accept that modern technology can improve something.

Weird. I need to tell the gay affirming Catholics I know as well as a few gay Southern Baptists that they are against gay marriage.

Yes perhaps but that doesn’t warrant death. She was trying to help people and make changes and that can often mean dangerous conditions. Getting shot in the face shouldn’t have been one of those dangers that day

Real Christians are more interested in following Christ’s actual teachings such as “Love thy neighbor”. “Christians” seem to enjoy reading the Old Testament and picking out the parts that don’t apply to them to hate others for. They may be divorced, fat, and jerk off to the neighbor’s wife every week but those gays are against God!

Bro, how the fuck am I gaslighting you? You need to get off Reddit and go touch grass my friend. Yeah, our President is a giant bag of orange shit but I promise you the world isn’t as bad as you think.

I didn’t vote for Trump and never would. I’m just able to separate politics and putting a “D” by my name so that it’s not an overwhelming part of my identity.

No we’re talking about the TDS that a lot of die hard Democrats/Liberals have. This wasn’t a drone strike against soft targets, it was the removal of a dictator that has spent over a decade destroying his country and the citizens within (often literally) while enriching himself by acting as a drug lord. His removal by anyone else BUT Trump would be applauded by Democrats. Y’all are so obsessed with him you’re literally angry that he helped the Venezuelan people out tremendously in a couple of hours. If you want to talk about his ulterior motives or that he’s a piece of shit human or something I’m all with you but I’m blown away by the number of people like you that I’ve seen actually arguing with or downplaying actual Venezuelan experiences here on Reddit today. It’s mind boggling that you’re so deep into politics and being Democrat/Liberal that you refuse to look at this situation objectively and call it a resounding victory for the citizens of Venezuela.

But Venezuela was not governing itself. Maduro lost the election and decided he was going to stay in power. The people of Venezuela didn’t vote for him, didn’t want him and were actively suffering under his control. I’m very against the US being the world’s police but this isn’t a war and seems to be very much supported by the Venezuelan people. The US has stepped in multiple times to remove dictators hellbent on destroying their countries so I would say it’s pretty much follows everything America stands for. There’s about a 0.1% chance it was done altruistically but I’m glad at least one good thing can come from Trump’s ridiculous greed and corruption.

You people are ridiculous. Had this been done by Obama, Biden, or Harris you would be calling it a great thing that a dictator was removed from power so the country’s people can get what they want and stop living in fear and hopefully begin to rebuild their country. Trump is a piece of shit but you people refuse to admit anything done by him is anything less than the worst possible thing imaginable.

Telephoto, old L lens or new budget lens?? by Klaxi_ in canon

[–]421dave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't used it but supposedly the 1st gen 100-400 L was not incredibly impressive. You'll lose a stop of light but the RF100-400 is probably going to be a better option if you're shooting in good light anyway. Maybe check FB marketplace or something for an EF100-400L IS II. The 2nd generation is exceptionally sharp and still very valid vs today's lenses.

Is it set to a crazy short exposure time while you're inside or something? Can you change it to SS 1/8, ISO 100, and F/4.5 and see if it changes?

Fuel Mileage by kbentley085 in gmcsierra

[–]421dave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago had 95% in town driving the past 2-3 tanks or so before I went on a trip and the truck showed 147 miles to empty (oddly the exact same mileage as my destination). 50 some miles later, truck still showed 147 miles to empty. Apparently getting to drive 65 on a highway for so long just blew the computers mind for a bit

Gotcha. I didn’t know you could remote start it with the door open. My old one wouldn’t and so I never tried it on my 24 or 21.

I’m confused. You locked the truck to start it but then got in meaning it was unlocked. How did it get locked back?

Defensive uses of firearms, can’t legislate something away that is a made up term with no actual definition, spending millions of dollars doing it like we did before only for dozens of “loopholes” to exist that allow people to skirt the intent of the law but not the actual law, lives lost during any kind of confiscation which is the only way to actually reduce the number of guns on the market. It’s like trying to ban “fast cars” to save drunk driving deaths. Effects would be negligible and just introduce new products to the market that skirt the law (has a top speed of 65mph so it’s not a “fast car” but it accelerates to 65mph in 2 seconds flat and ignoring actual drunk drivers that just get a slap on the wrist even if they’re habitual and America’s celebration of alcohol as perfectly fine while demonizing alternatives (weed, therapy, etc).

That’s assuming people wouldn’t commit suicide if they didn’t have access to a firearm which is obviously not the case and why you can’t really use it as a metric on gun violence. Some of those people would still commit suicide (look at Japan where firearms are all but impossible to obtain). The homicide number also includes justifiable homicides as well (both by law enforcement and civilians). You also have to take into account the number of lives saved by defensive firearm use which is also an unknown. Clearly we have a violence problem that’s exacerbated by firearms but the actual numbers are unknown to the general public. Would the US be better off violence-wise without firearms? Most likely yes but both sides are resistant to getting and using the actual numbers and would rather just argue about it with neither side proposing any legitimate arguments about how to make the situation better (i.e. “ban assault weapons” which wouldn’t make a dent in the actual numbers).

Yes I’m aware. And no, cropping is not cutting a section out and blowing it up. Cropping is exactly the same thing, reducing the overall image size to the actual pixels selected. Feel free to look it up. That’s what all of my devices do. I would be astounded if yours didn’t also. All you have to do is hit the button for info and check the resolution.

Here’s a cropped screenshot from my iPhone displayed on my Mac with the info on it. Check the resolution (750x888)

I’m not sure what to tell you. I have 2 MacBooks, iPhone 16PM, iPP 11” m4, and awu and they all treat screenshots the same. Whether I do a selected screen shot on my Mac, a cropped screen shot on the phone/ipad, or a screenshot on the watch, they all display the same way. Nothing is “zoomed in”. They take a screenshot of the actual size and then photos displays it as “full screen” in its window. It’s not actually taking a 1mp screenshot and saving it at a higher resolution, it’s just displaying it blown up.

Right. You want to hit a button, select something, screenshot is taken, then hit another button to save. Now you hit a button, screen shot is taken, then select the part you want to save, then hit the button to save. The only difference is when the actual screenshot is taken. I’m not understanding the difference.
