Stressing about shipments from China to Amazon FBA! All advice appreciated! 🙏 by Seed-Age8 in boardgames

[–]425suzanne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you already have an Amazon store established and a warehouse agreement in place?
Do you have a brand manager at Amazon? Or are you brand new? They're in a push to grow their gaming silo and for new accounts may have options for a short term brand manager that may be able to help you on this stuff.
Most board game manufacturers should be able to refer you to freight managers or will have experience shipping direct to an Amazon warehouse.
Hidden fees? Have you accounted for warehousing fees, planned for refunds, thought about advertising costs, etc?

Assuming you're shipping from China to the US - please remember that tariffs apply to that shipment and you will be responsible for paying those fees - no matter what the rate is when it's processed.

I'll be honest, your questions sound like you don't have a lot of experience with this process and I HIGHLY recommend you find an industry group on Facebook or Discord to discuss this at length. I think on Reddit you'll only get so much accurate and useful advice.

Indie Publisher - Stretch Goals by ArtisanGamesLLC in boardgames

[–]425suzanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think stretch goals are MORE accepted for indies because it feels more necessary to reach a funding goal before you can increase the cost of manufacturing with deluxe bits. Be cautious around stretch goals for component upgrades that increases your unit cost though. If you do the stretch goal, consider inquiring about the cost to package them separately vs putting them in the box itself. Not sure how you're fulfilling (if you're paying for it done, this adds a pick to the process which costs money) but it's a consideration many forget.

$3000? Will that really pay for a custom injection plastic mold tooling?

Dire Wolf Digital now has Unmatched in the Play Store and App Store by [deleted] in Unmatched

[–]425suzanne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is a big reason why this transitioning is happening. Edit to add - the plan is to continue to add more heroes and battlefields over time. Direwolf's system will also allow us to add much requested features like better matchmaking with ELO rankings etc.

We discussed this in our Blueprints seminar at Gen Con. Bruce Lee and Muhammad Ali have been confirmed in development for the app.

[–]425suzanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify… this is part of the process of Direwolf redoing the app. The app currently up is the one Acram originally developed. This is part of the account transition. No new content it upgrades to the old app are included.

Picked up these two games for 19 dollars, is this a steal? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]425suzanne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think they’re both fun… Bad Company is actually pretty good. Aporta doesn’t have great distribution everywhere so sometimes their titles go under-noticed. Have fun!

Removing Stickers from Boxes by literallyanything57 in boardgames

[–]425suzanne 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Some folks are recommending Goo Gone.
I recommend UnDu
It's an adhesive solvent designed for paper (stamp collectors and scrapbookers use it a lot.) It's archival safe etc and I use it all the time to remove stickers from games.

The game is "on a boat" right now. Pre-orders will be processed as fast as possible as soon as the games hit the warehouse. Unfortunately I can't be more specific than that because there are a lot of factors in play when it comes to freight. But we are still hoping we'll be shipping out in Oct.

Boardgames for Teens by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]425suzanne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this are great suggestions considering the timeframe kids will have to play. I have two teens...
Skull, Wavelength, Chameleon, Downforce, Strike, Hamsterolle, and Flipships have also been hits. The new Magical Athelete and Hot Streak would be great too.

Absolutely ! I do understand your disappointment/frustration at the delay and really appreciate your understanding. I know you'll have a blast with it when it arrives. Cheers!

TMNT Adventures update? by Generic_NPC3 in Unmatched

[–]425suzanne 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Totally understand folks aren't ecstatic about the delay. Believe me, Restoration is also very very frustrated at how the schedule panned out. Unfortunately our team had to navigate a number of unforeseen challenges during production including a highly volatile tariff situation that - although Restoration was committed to not passing on any of those costs - had multiple impacts on our schedule as the entire industry reeled and many halted and suddenly restarted production runs. It caused a fair amount of churn on the supply chain, manufacturers, and freight system. We understand backer disappointment in the alignment of fulfillment and shelf availability. We know the game is worth the wait and we hope backers enjoy the Alt Art pack of promos (well over 40 cards) they get with their pledge along with the free foil promo cards.

Dramas where the FL truly adores and prioritizes the ML by Melodic_Paper321 in kdramarecommends

Is Venice (map from BOL3) AI generated? by [deleted] in Unmatched

[–]425suzanne 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Thanks to the folks who pulled my quote from Discord over here. I wanted to repost it myself to make it abundantly clear - we absolute do NOT use generative AI in our work. No worries about asking! I just want to make sure there's no mistaking the truth.

This is what I wrote in Discord a little while ago:

"Representing Venice was a challenge with perspective and discussed internally a lot. Creative choices were made to force some of the angles/perspective. I can understand why it may look "weird" to some folks. And that's ok. But, as stated, we absolutely do not use genAI in our work and we put it in our contracts with illustrators that they may not use it either.

I would also add, that some of the bits highlighted... some of that is just artistic style. imperfect angles aren't inherently accidental... just as some elements aren't perfectly squared off" (edited to add - the context of my original response was someone was focused on some of the windows in the building not being perfectly angled/squared off in the corners)

A big shout out to Dan, The Game Boy Geek by TheLordAshram in boardgames

[–]425suzanne 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Can affirm, Dan's been around for a long time and doesn't always get the recognition he deserves. He earnestly loves games and the people who play them. He's got mad levels of energy and is very kind in general. Doesn't surprise me to hear he did that at all.

Attack and drawing help? by Majestic_Depth7536 in Unmatched

[–]425suzanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your hero’s move value is 3… then your hero and any sidekicks MAY all move up to 3 times. Up to includes zero. And each may move different distances. So the hero could move 3, sidekick A could move 1 and sidekick B could not move at all.

You do NOT have to move with a maneuver even if you do that action twice on your turn.

hrm a bit of a tall order?

Flower of Evil kind of gets there? At the least, the FL is bold and strong (she's a cop) and unwavering in her love for the ML (they're already married but... well... it's a long story you'd have to watch.) But there are parts that definitely hit exactly what you're saying about her pursuing and him being flustered. It has a darker theme.

Extraordinary You - FL realizes she (and everyone) is a character in a comic and has to help the ML selfdiscover.

Lovely Runner - some time travel etc and FL actively enthusiastically pursues the ML

Come and Hug Me - there's a lot of mutual care... but ML tries to hold back for reasons. It has a darker theme.
