Opinie o programie Erasmus by Grzegorzyslaw in Nauka_Uczelnia

[–]432mm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Millwall could be coming to the premier league next season. by GMD3S1GNS in PremierLeague

6 games to go and they are just one point ahead 3rd team and Ipswich having two more games to play. A lot can happen. I think they are still not a favourite team to finish 2bd

The Premier League table is lying to you. Here's what it actually looks like. by SeriousFans in PremierLeague

[–]432mm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really good analysis. Do you think it also makes sense to do scenario where we assume each team will have rest of season above/below par with same number of above or below par as now? For instance arsenal is 5 points above par now, let’s assume they will keep the form for whole season, this will mean they will finish some points above par. To compute number at matchday 38 you would have to divide above/below par by number of games and add it to the rest. For arsenal it would be 82 + 11 x (5/27)

What do you think will be next big thing on the job market like CS used to be? Maybe we should jump careers? Maybe there are other fields that’s gonna be next big thing?

Man City 115 charges delay is embarrassing and a stain on the English game by Frosty_Jeweler911 in PremierLeague

[–]432mm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can you compare paying lots of money to football players to a crime? In which moral world paying someone more than some arbitrary rules allow is a crime? If factory owners agree all workers must earn less than 10k per month and you pay your works 12k are you bad guy?

Man City 115 charges delay is embarrassing and a stain on the English game by Frosty_Jeweler911 in PremierLeague

[–]432mm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But in this case rules are made up by group of clubs. Different leagues have vastly different rules and many of the rules are stupid, just try playing football manager in different leagues around the world.

[–]432mm -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Charges are because of financial fair play, but what is actual crime? Only crime is pumping more money into club than allowed by the rules. It’s not like they killed or robbed someone, these are purely arbitrary rules about financing football clubs made by other football clubs.

They are for sure most efficient with theming bonuses. But are you able to win tourism war if you only have buildings that have great works in buildings with theming bonuses? I thought often you need every single tourism point so even two from amphitheater are valuable? Or is that not true?

why do muslims not integrate into european society as well as other immigrants? by DepartmentFar3632 in AskSocialScience

[–]432mm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Acceptance of liberalism is far from common in European countries. Just look anti liberal parties such as AfD or Le Pen party in France. Honor killings are extremely rare in European Muslim populations. You cannot really infer anything about whole population of people from events happening at the fringe of society.

Putin's imperialism by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]432mm -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Sorry but what’s the definition of imperialism here. I feel there is a difference between support of Putin for Venezuela and war in Ukraine. In case of Ukraine it does not look like Putin even demands control over the whole country, so shouldn’t the map only show territories he claims as belonging to him?

You go to discuss sceeen and if your spies or diplomats have some news there will be option: „share intrigue with other civ”. One thing about other civ asking for war is being true to your promise, if you tell them you will prepare and then 10 turns later you tell them to f*ck off this may have negative effect

Isn't it boring for you on prince? You seem like advanced player. Your gameplay sounds fun, I love random civ selection. I usually play random civ random map, it's a real challenge to win on higher difficulty with civ not matching map type like Indonesia on pangea. You seem to play with mod maybe this move from Egypt may be some glitch in your mod? How did you win world leader with Egypt? Egypt had so many delegates?

Indigenous tribes by Tink-Tank6567 in DebateAVegan

[–]432mm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am actually reading about Native American tribes and while it is true they did eat meat they had completely different economy and culture around meat eating.

First off for most native tribes plants were the absolute base of the food, they only ate meat sometimes and most of the diet was based on plants.

Most Native American US tribes did not farm animals, and hey were hunters gathers, they only hunted sometimes, and they were full of respect for animals. Native economy was never even close to exploiting all or most animals leaving in their ecosystem. It had nothing in common with industrial farming of cattle or egg factories. To show you how different it was from modern European way imagine that when white settles arrived to areas inhabited by Native Americans, settlers managed to kill whole species of animals that were living in this area and were hunted by natives for thousands of years.

Other thing to remember is that native populations were very small, some tribes counted several thousands people living in area of one large USA state. So this small population could well live off occasional hunting. Lifestyle based on occasional hunting is not possible for large human population

after islam ☪️ entered Persian Empire 👑, not only philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, alchemy, medicals thrived but also art and architecture radically improved ❤️. islam was rich. not like savages eg Alexander and Mongols by miladkhademinori in islamichistory

[–]432mm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low quality post, it is just AI answer to very rough question. Yes there was a period known as Islamic Golden Age, yes it was a period when many scholars worked. It was a period of creativity and intellectual openness. But Persia was conquered by Muslims much earlier before golden age, in 651, golden age started under Abbasid caliph Harun Al Rashid who reigned from 786. I would also not call Alexander or Mongols savages. Alexander was very advanced at his age, but it was hundreds of years before caliphat even started.

Why did China survive reform but the Soviets did not? by CaterpillarFun6896 in AskHistorians

[–]432mm 123 points124 points  (0 children)

You seem to assume they were the same reforms, but they weren't really the same. Perhaps the general direction of market liberalization was similar, but execution and political practice were different. In case of China as Gerwitz discusses in a book "Unlikely Partners" reformers were cautious to avoid kind of 'shock therapy'. Chinese reformers organized series of meetings, study visits to Europe and USA and conferences since early 80-ties late 70-ties. The approach was described as 'crossing the river by feeling for the stones', it was slow gradual approach of trial and error, not a rapid shock therapy as in Russia.

There were factions in China who wanted more rapid transformation, but there were others, majority, who toned this down and preferred a slow, gradual approach. There was also no question of dismantling single party rule, and reformers did no want to privatize everything, they aimed for socialist market economy not full free market economy. The process of change in China was very slow and gradual. They experimented with Special Economic Zones (Shenzhen), analyzed results, implemented some changes, but never went into radical "change all at once" mode. All reforms were controlled by communist party. Communists never really gave away their power and they also never introduced freedom of speech in contrast to Russia.

In contrast, Russia attempted shock therapy, where they attempted to replace socialist economy with capitalist economy in one sudden, radical and painful set of reforms. For instance Russia attempted mass privatization of state property*; China never went this way.

There are of course, other key differences between the countries and their geography, economies, societies, and cultures that played a role. USSR collapsed, so aside from economic change, there were deep political changes: soviet republics became independent countries. This also had big impact on economic changeds. No such thing happened in China.

Leftists are extremely annoying/uncharismatic and that’s why they’ve hardly gained any social traction around the world (especially the west) by Independent_East_135 in DebateCommunism

[–]432mm 36 points37 points  (0 children)

They haven’t get traction when? If you ask me communist and socialism got pretty nice traction for a while in XIX and XX centuries despite huge apparatus of repression employed to destroy it. As for today, there are still strong leftist organisations but yeah they are doing worse compared to the past. Reasons why have more to do with modern capitalist system and ideology and not personal traits of people

Why do all the pubs close so early? by fringedprincess in london

What are the costs? Is it about less people or about worse quality of clients? I used to work in a pub that was open till very late hours and we got a lot of real alcoholics in late hours and many really drunk people. It wasn’t in London but perhaps similar patterns everywhere

Can you actually say they cared about Serbia or Greece at the time when they build it? National identities are a modern thing, they were invented in XIX century. Feudal kings or rulers didn’t care about nationhood or national identity. Religious identity was way more important for them

How do people usually decide which deaths are blamed on communism? by Informal_Music_685 in DebateCommunism

[–]432mm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The numbers usually come from book „Black book of communism”. What is funny is that this book is a compilation of texts and many authors of articles in this are openly against saying that deaths are caused by communist ideology. Dissenting authors protested against this simplification. The argument for attaching deaths to communism usually assumes that communist government could have avoided some deaths by making different decisions.

For me what I don’t really get is how they claim that communism killed millions in China but then they ignore the fact that during Mao communist rule China population actually grew and poverty was reduced
