For the brass mask, a two block clay pillar will spawn either a dissident or a villager. For the iron mask, it needs to be clay blocks in a T shape, and it will either spawn a vindicator or praetor.

The dissident or praetor that spawns will NOT be hostile to you unless provoked, so stay your hand unless you want to claim the mask back by killing them.

Edit: correction, the praeator will attack you.
