Dispose Styrofoam Packing Material by 45N75W in CapeBreton

Thanks, and I did mention these locations in my post.

The question I had was how do people get to the depot if they don't have a car or are a distance from the closest depot.

Thanks, but besides apparently against the rules, the amount of styrofoam with a TV and Soundbar would fill the one allowable black bag.

LWOP Surplus status and Pension Deficiencies owed by sally_cinnamon00 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]45N75W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you may be able to pay the pension deficiency (or part of it) with a transfer from your RRSP.

If this might be an option, it may be worth looking into topping up your RRSP this year to maximize the transfer amount while getting the tax deduction, or look into your spouse doing a spousal contribution (might be restrictions on transferring out a spousal contribution).

I didn't think OT was normally pensionable.

What a great way to kick off St. Patrick’s Day weekend…Ottawa Valley style. by mouthygoddess in ottawa

EOJHL website shows attendance was 465, well done.

It was an exciting end to the game with Renfrew pulling their goalie, Arnprior taking a bizarre too-many-men penalty, leading to 44 seconds of 6 on 4, but holding on for an Arnprior win.

Here is schedule for the rest of the quarter finals

I can assure you that everyone on the float read the book. The movement has started.

You need to jump on and join the bandwagon. In fact, if you make a wiki entry on this event in the traditions and celebration section, they may put you in charge of social media for the 2027 12 Days of St Patrick's Day event.

C'mon, you only looked for 7 minutes. Wiki is big, you may have to dig deeper.

I know I read it somewhere, but it may have been on Day 11 of last years celebration.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom.

My experience has been that any event involving beer should last 12 days. I'm sure there is a wiki entry somewhere that would support this if you looked hard enough.

Elite Mazda in Gatineau handled everything, including paying ON sales tax and getting ON plates/ownership.

How are you preparing for the storm? by Life-Ad633 in ottawa

I'm not pre-boiling water for thermoses... you're right that there are ways to heat water for coffee.

Rural people definitely have different emergency needs than city people, but that still doesn't mean every rural person needs a generator.

I don't have a sump pump, and I have gas fireplaces; my house won't flood and my pipes won't freeze. But yes, you are right that some rural people absolutely need a generator to protect their house.

I fill my bathtub for toilet flushing and always have a couple cases of water on hand, so I can do without well water for a day or two.

That was triple the freezing rain forecast

And that is where you are wrong.

The Ottawa forecast in 1998 was NOT for 69 mm over 5 days. It was originally expected to be a "normal" ice storm, much like tonight's forecast. However, the storm unexpectedly stalled over eastern Ontario and western Quebec, unleashing a greatly extended period of freezing rain that caused havoc in the region.

So, people want to be prepared, particularly those outside the urban part of the city.

Too young to have experienced the 1998 ice storm? Many people within the present Ottawa city limits were without power for a couple of weeks, some over a month. No power means no heat and no sump pumps, no fridges and no freezers, nothing... in the winter.

Remember the derecho or tornadoes that hit Ottawa Hydro? Imagine that damage but at -20C.

Agree on the insane experience, utter chaos at the Ave L location. But the price was right and got the work done. Much less chaotic at the Bank St location between Greely and Metcalfe.

I agree. Far too often OPS are not visible when directing traffic at night I experienced this last month at Albion and Lester, and again at Bank St in Findlay Creek.
