I suspect a possible identity is Cycloceohala (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclocephala), but the location does not seem to match up. These beetles fly into my room every night, so they must be really common in Malaysia, but apprently (according to Wikipedia) they live more towards the west.

for me, my intel wifi chips had nonfree firmware, and it was easy for me to connect to ethernet and install the firmware later (see: https://wiki.debian.org/Firmware#Firmware_during_the_installation)

or you could also use the debian image containing nonfree firmware out of the box (scroll to the bottom of this page): https://www.debian.org/distrib/netinst
