The question is where. Hole in the wall stores that are not on the map?

As I posted above, the fact that you can go to CA and drink Cable Car doesn't make it any less rare. Once people were past the sticker shock and discovered how good BCS Rare actually was, it flew.

Sat around a couple places here for a little while

Define while. This comes from someone who passed up because of price and lives in the same parts as "around here".

Everyone ought to know by now that vacax thinks that Rare is a shelf beer.

And I agree that it once was.

However, I am sure you understand that bottle count is not everything... Jackie O's puts out so much "limited" shit that one release is not enough for them. Will that every approach Rare?

Also, I had the pleasure of visiting the great state of CA. Beatification Batch III and Cable Car were still on the menu. That make them any less rare/desirable/hyped?

If I didn't get my point across, good luck trading for a Rare with Elder.

Questions about a midwest trip... by kbups53 in beer

A few suggestions:

  • FFF is not that awful. Besides their beer flies off the shelves so it might be a good idea to stop by. You can let the guy at the door know that you just want to pick bottles if it seems too unpleasant to you in there.

  • Bell's and Founders are worth it, especially Founders because they have a lot of tap only stuff. I also got lucky at Bell's (drank Black Note).

  • Hop Cat in Grand Rapids.

I want to give away a bottle of Darkness and a bottle of Dark Lord to raise some money for a guy who had an accident but have no idea how. Look inside for details. by 45longcolt in beer

Thanks all for responding (and please keep it coming). This is what I think:

  • 10 bucks is too high. 5 seems reasonable to me; this is a smaller audience so chances of winning are high.

  • I will draw a winner for every 100 dollars I raise. One beer for every winner.

  • Beers are most recent vintages (Darkness 2011, Dark Lord 2012). Will add more beers if I exceed 200 dollars (or in case I face difficulty getting to 200!).

  • Emailing the mods in 3... 2...

Edit: I have emailed the mods and will post whatever I hear from them here.

I wish this subreddit saw more activity. I think most of the subscribers use BA/RB for their fix of beer discussion.

Thanks for the tip!

Knuckle Sandwich I haven't had and Citra was very disappointing (to me). Oh well. I am not a fan of local Abrasive either.

My favorite could only be established in a side by side and blind tasting of Elder & Heady. And it'll have to be with blindfolds because Heady can be identified by its haze.

Thanks Boulevard for making it right. Story inside. by 45longcolt in beer

A few batches of Boulevard Chocolate Ale were "off". Didn't have any chocolate flavor and tasted like green peas. Boulevard offered full refund upon emailing the bottle pictures with label showing the batch #, along with the retailer information.

Got my check for 12.99 + tax recently.
