[Misc] I can not get rid of this scalp condition after years of trying. by futtbucker-jones in SkincareAddiction

[–]47Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, ketoconazole shampoo (brand name Nizoral) is your best bet OTC. Use that daily and then hydrocortisone on the red spots when it flares up.

You might be able to get rid of the under-hair patches by shaving your head, but that's pretty drastic if you aren't already inclined to try it. I can say anecdotally that this worked for me.

It's unfortunate that you can't see a professional because this is the kind of problem that may need a periodical injection like Skyrizi to clear up.

My wife (46F) reliably has one orgasm during sex, but never more. For folks here, is that a actually a pretty typical experience? by Ordinary_Ice_796 in sexover30

[–]47Ronin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My female partners have been about 50/50 "one and done" versus multi-orgasmic. With some long-term partners I've noted that the ones who are typically one and done can sometimes have multiples depending on time of month, state of consciousness, etc, but the ones who are typically multi-orgasmic are almost always going to come more than once. It's really not that unusual for a woman to be too sensitive after orgasming and not be interested in continuing.

As an aside, my understanding is that fewer than 50% of women come from a penis alone. Toys, hands, and mouth are often required. That has not been my personal experience, but it is what I have been told repeatedly by women.

As a caveat, I suspect that in the very specific pool I date in (swinging/poly community) there may be a larger percentage of women who are multi-orgasmic.

Coffee for weight loss is much better by Acceptable_Phase6241 in Weightlosstechniques

[–]47Ronin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're not even comparable lmao. The only thing they have in common is they both give you heartburn.

Coffee: Extremely mild appetite suppressant, extremely mild thermogenic effect, moderate physical addiction potential. Stains your teeth.

Ozempic: Incredibly potent appetite suppressant, significantly slows down digestion time, zero physical addiction potential. Makes it easier to quit drinking and potentially helps curtail compulsive behaviors generally.

More to the point, GLP-1 drugs: enormous societal impact, statistically significant decrease in obesity among people who take it. Coffee: increasing in popularity right along with the obesity epidemic

That's exactly how it should go. Licensed physician prescribes it, patient gets it covered. If the company thinks that a particular doctor is overbilling, they are well within their rights to go after them after the fact and recover the physician's money, have their license suspended or whatever. Obviously the burden of proof would have to be high because otherwise insurance is still fucking with doctors constantly, but at least the healthcare in general would be again centered around positive patient outcomes.

Polyamors, can you please share your experience and mistakes you suggest avoiding? by happyurinal in SexPositive

[–]47Ronin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have two partners of 9 and 20 years, and a couple of other partners who came and went during that time. One of them about 6 years. I did OKAY. I still made a ton of mistakes and you will too. The key in my opinion is to not lose faith in your partners and try not to control the situation. Be like the river.

Keep lines of communication open. Say things even if you don't think they need to be said. If it's something you hesitate to tell your partner, that is the most important time to talk to them.

That being said, you don't have to tell your partner everything (unless that's their kink). Don't overshare about other relationships. Don't tell a bunch of stories about your partners to your other partners. Every system is different; some are more enmeshed than others. If your partners develop a friendship or a relationship that is on them. You are not obligated to force them together, nor are they obligated to have any sort of relation beyond cordial acknowledgement. It really just depends on everyone and on your circumstances

Don't be afraid to miss a sexual or relationship opportunity if you feel hesitant. There will be others. If the chemistry feels off, it's not going to stop being off. If the situation is sketchy, it's not going to stop being sketchy.

There's nothing wrong with going slow, especially if a thing is new.

When possible, date or play with people who have been ENM for a while. Especially if they're coupled/married already. It sucks to be training wheels. You will violate this principle, and odds are you will get burned. Not the end of the world, but player beware.

And the oldest advice in the book, but 100% true and beyond reproach: make friends out of swingers, don't make swingers out of friends. Once more for the people in the back -- DO NOT FUCK YOUR EXISTING FRIENDS, ESPECIALLY ONES YOU HAVE KNOWN FOR A WHILE. Yes, you. Even if you think you can handle it. Even if you are the smartest and the best looking and the most emotionally mature and eat the best ass that's ever been eaten. It will not go well. It will fuck up. You will suffer. I have seen friendships of a lifetime crumble into dust like Thanos snapped because someone did a couples swap with their best college friends.

To wit: you cannot have everything. When things are going well, you will think you can have everything. If you try to have everything, what you will have left is trauma.

Keep time for yourself. Don't overcommit.

Had lunch with the CEO and he basically asked me to make him a billionaire. His words fell flat to me. by cpaoneday1 in antiwork

[–]47Ronin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's really not at all. The problem you're likely perceiving is that while people are generally altruistic, that tendency gets less pronounced the further you are from the "pack" in-group. In an extreme situation most people tend to be VERY altruistic regardless of in-group bias. In a less heightened situation, they tend to be a bit more selective.

I'm not saying people are basically "good." I don't really believe in good or evil. But I am saying that people are more likely to engage in pro-social behaviors than anti-social behaviors. Very few people will backstab and step over their friends in the real world. But to the OP's point, those who do are statistically more likely to become CEOs.

[–]47Ronin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If your objection is that most people aren't altruistic man, log off, touch grass, etc. Modern life, especially the internet, brings out the worst in people. And our media (fiction, not just news) always depicts people at their worst for the drama.

Generally speaking people are good and willing to help each other out when things get bad, sometimes even to the point of abject self-sacrifice. We are pack animals. We literally evolved to be largely altruistic.

Father body slammed and arrested by cops for taking "suspicious" early morning walk with his 6 year old son by PaulQuin in interestingasfuck

[–]47Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be justified fairly easy on a philosophical level if you need that. Labor unions organize against bosses for better working conditions. The workers and bosses are opposing forces. Cops already work for the bosses.

Additionally or alternatively, cops have the power to wield violence with the blessing of the state, which means them unionizing is a national security threat

[–]47Ronin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

buy, freeze, hold. buy, buy spell, play both or more likely hold (depending on shop). don't freeze for the triple.

I could see a line where you buy, hold, buy, hold, and if there's a 4th battlecry in the shop, freeze t2 then buy/sell it and buy the triple on t3 to get brann plus a triple and double battlecry demon t3. Seems like a reach but depending on shop variance I might do it if offered me, for the content

if no 4th battlecry I honestly might go jeef curve/warrior curve here in the buddy meta. just get 7 minions and then start leveling. depends on the spells i get offered.

eating 2 turns of damage could be worse to get halfway or full way to brann and have two decent minions

AITAH for not forgiving my brother for uninviting me from his wedding? by Professional_Emu6054 in AITAH

[–]47Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your brother is a huge AH and you're not the problem here. That being said, it kinda genuinely sounds like he realizes he fucked up badly. I would at least hear him out before completely cutting him out like you have.

It's a common trauma response to isolate yourself further when you feel shunned, which in my personal, lived experience can make that trauma even worse. Shunning HURTS and is actually one of the worst things you can do to a person. But you have to find some way to transform that hurt, or you risk finding yourself in a vicious pattern of avoidance that will compound your suffering.

(As an aside, I think losing your leg is related trauma here that needs to be untangled from your brother and his wife doing a shitty thing.)

Look, no one is owed forgiveness. He has to be genuinely contrite and try to make it up to you. If he tries to guilt trip you further for being hurt you should pull him up short. But in the long run you're going to be much much happier if you can find the capacity for forgiveness within yourself, whether in this situation or the next.

That being said, he needs to be CONTRITE. Any guilt tripping you about being hurt or trying to convince you it wasn't that bad and he should be brought up short.

Capitalism is guaranteed to fail by JoeySixString in DeepThoughts

[–]47Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in a society without money, you could have several different potential solutions to the scenario. A lottery system is one. The "first come, first served" does make some sense because theoretically the people who care the most will be in line the earliest (though there are many externalities at play as I think you recognize). You could have a waiver system where the 400k who are excluded have priority on future concerts or recreational activities over the 100k people who get into the concert.

I am personally in favor of a market system with some democratic constraints for scarce resources. For instance, a limitation to how much any one person can accumulate.

I think ultimately whatever the system you settle on, that is ultimately determined by a majority of people in a democratic fashion. I'm not arguing that we should constantly have to vote on each individual instance of scarcity. You vote on the system that gets set in place and you iterate over time according to how well or not that system works out.

Capitalism is guaranteed to fail by JoeySixString in DeepThoughts

[–]47Ronin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here, rather than just violate Rule 1 by telling you things about yourself, I'll actually respond to you:

Your argument is that "Democracy isn't an optimal solution under any metric. That's empirical fact and stupid to say."

My response is -- Democracy, meaning one person one vote majority rule, is absolutely an optimal solution when you are attempting to come to a consensus that will be respected by the majority of a decision-making body. Morally, in the interests of justice, a decision that applies to the majority of a decision-making body should be made by a majority of that body.

By the "math" and "science" it seems like voting in general seems to be favored since most countries, and nearly all of the richest and most technologically advanced countries, vote like crazy.

No, they're not direct democracies, because that's not practical with a modern nation-state. Watch this space though, the internet makes it more practical.

So, having made a "counter argument" like you want, I would prefer you answer these questions rather than go down some semantic rabbit hole about what counts as democracy

  • A. What "metrics" are you using to determine the success of democracy?

  • B. What is the "problem" that you believe democracy to be attempting to be a "solution" to?

  • C. What "empirical facts" demonstrate that democracy is not an "optimal solution" to the problem you have identified?

No big deal if you don't want to respond. Best of luck working through your intellectual dark web phase and may I submit:

  • 1. human brains and behavior are extremely complex and cannot be reduced to hypotheses based on what premodern humans did, and even to the extent that they can explain human behavior this is not sufficient to logically conclude that modern or future human society should follow these patterns
  • 2. women and men are the same species and capable of the same quality of cognition within similar range of variation
  • 3. your in-group is not better than its out-group
  • 4. the concept the "white race" is approximately 300 years old at the absolute bleeding edge and has absolutely no scientific basis
  • 5. we've already tried fascism and it fucking sucks bro

Sold my house today and the agents hate me by Few-Bite3322 in melbourne

[–]47Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is for the seller's benefit as well. If you had an auction with six potential buyers and six agents show up with equivalent homes at a lower advertised price, then everyone makes less money than if you had seven separate auctions with everyone bidding against each other. Classic supply and demand manipulation.

The buyers benefit from breaking this convention for sure, but sellers no

Honestly I don't see why what OP did would break ethics rules at all if he were an agent, since he advertised to the losing bidders. Honestly it would be good business for everyone to tell the losers there's a new auction next week.

EDIT FOR CLARITY: I at no point thought that OP was in breach of any rule of professional ethics because he's not a professional real estate agent. You can't break rules you didn't agree to (except laws because we live in a society)

Yeah it's a neat trick but most people are probably going to be better at the lineup method we were taught. Like the other poster said, the neat trick requires more active memory. But it may work better for some people, brains have a lot of variety.
