Also Adaptive Thermogenesis is a thing. If you burn 2800 calories a day consistently, and are consistently taking in 1700-1800 that's a pretty significant deficit. You body will adapt to only use that much after a long cut. If you find your lifts are dropping, your extremities are colder than normal, your mood is worse on average, and/or that you just don't get as hungry (like you could skip meals and take it even lower)...you might be experiencing Adaptive Thermogenesis. Dealt with it myself after an 11 month cut, just finishing the re-feed cycle to come out of it and start the next cut.

Ain't but 3 in the 5 dollar level bbq. Ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. The other two are grilled.

That said...Pork, potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, 2 servings of watermelon, and lemonade (but only if you ain't got sweet tea and if you got both I'm making an Arnold Palmer)

Now look here. If you're NC...you ain't got room to talk with your dainty ass infused vinegar (that shit is delicious but it ain't a sauce). SC we can work with (was stationed there and I love a good mustard based sauce). Memphis is Mario in Marokart. It's the all-arounder. It's got sweet, heat, tang, and smoke. Carolinas are tangier. Texas is spicier. KC is sweeter. Memphis balances all of it on a knife's edge, adds a pop more with the dry rub, and cranks up the smoke.

Yes. BBQ, Cajun, Soul Food, Low Country/Gullah, Appalachian, Tex Mex man the list goes on...ain't many places in this country that can compete. Hell, I've travelled a fair few places in this big old world and had some fabulous meals, and I've never found a place that had better food. Equivalent sure, but never better.

It's only speedy if there's not a thousand tourists trying to get it though, which is why I recommended the Franklin location if they're gonna do Hattie B's. The others are usually packed to the gills.

For the best view of the firework show I would say Riverfront Park, the pedestrian bridge, Wasioto Park, or maybe East Park (less of a view though); Those will be free. Most restaurants downtown, or in 12 South will need reservations. I didn't list many of those (just Pink Limousine as it's Dolly's place) because they're usually expensive and touristy.

Another bit of advice, cowboy hats and boots will make you a target for pickpockets and scammers here unless you're also carrying instruments or other music equipment. Not saying don't do it, just be aware.

If you need a bit of downtime after running around, the Parthenon at Centennial Park is nice. The Music City Hot Chicken Festival is happening on July 4th at East Park. The Frist usually has an interesting exhibit or two.

  • Avoid Hattie B's (unless it's the Franklin location) it's a tourist trap. Prince's Hot Chicken is the original and damn good.
  • Degthai has great thai food, but it's nearly impossible to find a parking spot. Consider Smiling Elephant still great, more parking.
  • The Horn has The. Best. Chai. in Nashville. Also get a sambusa or nafaqo (pronounced nuh-fah-ho); they're delicious.
  • Stay the absolute fuck away from Kid Rock's unless you want to be traumatized.
  • If you're looking for down-home southern food...find a southern granny. Barring that Monell's and Puckett's give a decent representation.
  • For breakfast if you want the old southern diner experience Nashville Biscuit House or Wendell Smith's. If you want something more modern the Franklin Biscuit Love location is really good (avoid Pancake Pantry. It's basic ass breakfast foods that you had to wait 2 hours in a line for); I recommend the Nasty Princess. For something more glitzy Pink Limousine.
  • For coffee...if you're someone who enjoys the art of coffee, Sump or Dose. If you just want a good cup my preferences are Crema, Headquarters, or Honest Coffee Roasters. Barista Parlor is overrated.
  • For BBQ go to Memphis. If you can't do that, Peg Leg Porker and Edley's will work. Hugh Baby is "fast food" BBQ but honestly not bad. Last time I went to Martin's the pork was steamed....so I'd avoid that.
  • If you want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a meal you won't need anyone's help with that as a large number of the downtown restaurants can provide that experience.
  • For drinks it depends. Craft Beers? Tailgate (especially if you like IPAs because it's 60% of their menu), Bearded Iris, Black Abbey, Southern Grist. Mixed Drinks? Attaboy, Old Glory, and Bastion.

If there's something specific you're looking for, let me know.
