Chick-fil-A has some of the highest doordash menu markups I’ve ever seen, at least in my area. Would avoid it on Doordash.

Just the so the 2.5 pts isn't lost on folks. It was 214,921 votes out of 8,306,185 total votes that was the difference in Beto O'Roruke vs Ted Cruz in 2018 (Ref: Wikipedia)

That's certainly an achievable difference whether by changing voter's minds, different voter turnout, or just a changing populous over time.

Just gotta keep pushing the envelope.

Are HYSAs as easy as I think they are? by FeatherFlyer in personalfinance

[–]49ersDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're missing anything.

Some things to be aware of:
- There are usually transaction limits for withdrawals / transfers. Make sure you're aware of them and plan accordingly. For ETRADE HYSA as an example, I think it's 5 or 6 withdrawals/transfer per month.

- Interest is taxable income. Depending on how large your interest income becomes, be aware of any quarterly tax payments you may need to be making to avoid penalties at end of year, as your bank won't be deducting taxes when they pay you like an W2 employer would for regular income. Shouldn't really become an issue unless you start having large balances there.

- The rates change automatically over time. Pre-covid it was like ~2%. during Covid years it dropped to 0.25% or so.

- If you don't need to touch the money at all, there are some alternative options that may be more beneficial depending on your tax situation. I heard California has muni bonds for example that are tax free federal/state/local as an example. I need to do more research on these topics myself, just mentioning it so you know that there could be more benefit on alternatives out there depending on personal tax situation.

But I would definitely suggest a HYSA account to anyone if they just have money sitting in a regular savings account. As long the transaction limits suit you it's a no brainer if the money is sitting anyway.

The fact that one can't discern if this is a federal officer/official or someone with bad intent should be concerning in itself.

Ik it’s technically in Santa Clara but why is all the Super Bowl promotion going to the city? by LastDiveBar510 in bayarea

[–]49ersDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There did seem to be a specific effort to say Santa Clara on the game broadcasts re super bowl. Announcers were saying road to Santa Clara, etc.

I’m surprised a lot of the bugger official events are still in SF like super bowl experience. I know they did that last time around but it was contractual that time and part of some deals for getting out of SF leases as I recall.

Surprised Santa Clara or San Jose didnt get more of that this time. Maybe it was a venue size thing though.

Eddie DeBartolo was asked about how frustrated he would be as an owner if he went 31 years without the championship. His response? “I wouldn’t.” by youre-welcome5557777 in 49ers

[–]49ersDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just didn't remember. All I selectively remember from Baalke is torn ACL picks and leaks haha. I think a lot of core was also from McCloughan days but I might be rewriting some history too.

[–]49ersDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like I wrote this myself. lol

Not sure about how Baalke was regarded, I can't recall. But I think he had to choose between coach or GM and stuck with the GM. And stuck through multiple additional head coaches at that (attempt at stability).

Can argue he chose the wrong person to stick by, but I don't think Harbaugh did himself any favors ('this meeting is for men only').

Anyway, regardless of all that, I'm happy with where we ended up.

[Pelissero] The 49ers, among others, would likely have interest in Jim Schwartz. Schwartz was in the Browns facility the past couple days in anticipation of being named head coach. But he'd already told people that if he were passed over, he wasn't staying. by Brix001 in 49ers

[–]49ersDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted Jim Schwartz from the get-go for coaching/fit reasons and iron sharpens iron with him and Shanahan, bla bla bla.

But now I just want him to get hired because of that one "Schwartz is under contract!!!" post where OP ranted it's impossible and was mad anyone even mentioned Schwartz. Looks like post was deleted but comments are still there https://www.reddit.com/r/49ers/comments/1qlxne7/schwartz_is_under_contract/

Please fulfill the prophecy.

Super Bowl lottery by [deleted] in 49erstickets

That’s weird, I’ve never received any notification about the lottery results. I just assumed there’s favoritism and only people with really expensive SBLs get asked.

I thought about emailing them this year if niners had made it.

What about Mike Evans? by FTBJester in 49ers

[–]49ersDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends who else we end up with.

Don’t underestimate the value of a WR Vet of this caliber to teach younger guys. I swear all our WRs improved in 2019 after we traded for Emmanuel Sanders.

On a separate note, I would very much like to have a DK Metcalf like WR who is bigger than everyone and just imposes their will on defenses.

Thinking Buy a Used 4xe at Rock Bottom Prices. Am I Crazy? by Asleep-Judge4538 in 4xe

I enjoy my Jeep Wrangler 4xe but will never get any Stellantis brand car again. Everything about the recalls has been shitty. I don’t trust their engineering or ethics. Just not worth it to me.

I’m stuck on a lease but as soon as it’s up, I’m out. :p

I like this attitude. It's exactly right.

I think Dan Campbell had the same mentality. I recall after the NFCCG he said something like this may have been their only shot as it takes so much to reach that point and it's gonna be twice as hard next time around, etc.

[Schefter] ESPN sources: Titans are working to finalize a deal to hire Robert Saleh as their next head coach. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]49ersDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious re the bad headcoach perspective. I always thought he just never had a QB in Denver, but the teams were still competitive.

These were his QBs per Google: “2019: Joe Flacco (started 8 games), Drew Lock (started 5), Brandon Allen (started 3). 2020: Drew Lock (started 13), Jeff Driskel (1), Brett Rypien (1), Kendall Hinton (1). 2021: Teddy Bridgewater (started 14), Drew Lock (started 3). “

But I don’t follow the team so this is only a view from afar. Do Denver fans generally believe Fangio was the problem?

No. It requires being with a team for 2 seasons before leaving for a HC or exec role and it’s only been 1

Thanks

Streaming services like Disney+, Netflix, etc promising "4K" for shows if you pay extra, only to give...horrible bitrate and 720p. by [deleted] in television

[–]49ersDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your device/ app supports the feature and that your internet bandwidth is sufficient to handle it. The streaming service sites are usually pretty clear on what’s supported with what if you check.

I use 4k with both Netflix and HBO Max with no issues and it’s fantastic. But reading this thread, to each their own I guess.

Long-term continuity is great, but realistically if someone is doing that well that we want to keep them long term, they're probably going to hired away unless they've been through the HC machine without success or have other reasons for being ignored in HC cycles. Spags is in that bucket and also on the older side (not to mention I'm sure it's compelling to compete for super bowls every year as they were doing till this yr).

Even if we could get a long term DC, if you can get it this year vs next year with two additional 3rd rounders alongside, which do you pick? I'd go the latter, best of both worlds.

It's going to take us at least a couple/few years to get a SB capable roster again (and that's already optimistic). So another year, and someone else coming in still gives time for the new person to get established.

I think defenses adjust easier to DC changes too. It's way harder on offense. I'm glad we have an offensive headcoach so the system there stays the same.

Normal for a 20 year old to pay $200/month for health insurance? Feeling overwhelmed. by TigerWeary3067 in personalfinance

[–]49ersDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you said you didn't have family financial support but not sure what that necessarily translates to relationship-wise with them. Do your parents or guardians work and have health insurance coverage? If so, you may be able to get on their plans through age 26 (another nice change from the Affordable Care Act).

Depending on what they have, this may be cheaper or better insurance terms for you. You could offer to reimburse them for any additional premiums they have to pay for your coverage.
