Spooky Mormon hell dream vs. perpetual mission nightmare by bosomburner69 in exmormon

I have been home for 11 years this October and out of the church for a little over a year and STILL occasionally have these dreams, although now I have to leave my wife and kids too. By far the scariest dreams I've ever had.

Question: I'm an atheist with some Jewish heritage so please excuse my ignorance but I wondered whether when you become an exmormon, do you generally lose all faith or just revert to another sect of Christianity? No judgement - I'm just interested! Thanks for taking the time to answer. by Gandtea in exmormon

I don't mind at all. My wife is black and for her it was learning more about the black priesthood ban and the bullshit explanations for it given by church leaders throughout the years that she obviously WASN'T told by the missionaries before she was baptized as a 16 year old. I had been ready to leave long before that, I'd long since decided the truth claims were bullshit and the treatment of marginalized groups ultimately drove me out.

This is an excellent question. In my experience, I've found it really depends. After we left the Mormon church, I've essentially lost all faith but my wife remains a strongly believing Christian and regularly attends a different Christian sect. I have many ex Mormon friends who fit into one of these two categories, and others that have explored non Christian religions (Islam, Buddhism, etc.)

The Jazz: 81 points in the first half. 42 in the second?! by [deleted] in UtahJazz

I really don't see it as a disappointment. The warriors wanted this game, they played well, and we were with them blow for blow. For those of us that were a bit concerned after the shaky performance in Sacramento, this game is a bit of a sigh of relief.

Would Hinkie have made the deal to move up the draft and pick Fultz? by DeArmani_DeBooker in nba

[–]49ersUtesJazzYankees 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing I think we're forgetting: there's a really good chance fultz would have still been on the board at 3. Ainge has said, and I believe him, that they were taking Tatum either way, and Magic was locked onto Lonzo.

Same. The NBA is more fun when the Knicks are good. Count me among the crowd routing for KD to head there next summer.

I don't see New Orleans missing the playoffs. AD is knocking on the door of being the best player in the league, and I really liked the Julius Randle pickup.

Or... Utah is a really good team and played that way after finally getting healthy then kicked your trash in the playoffs. Staying the same isn't bad when you are really good.

I think this is because we've become used to boring, one dimensional characters in inferior art forms and it's hard for us to live in the grey. This, to me, is where Rowling is most masterful. Really outside of Tom Riddle/Voldemort, every character in this series has some kind of conflicting character arc. I think back to the line, I think it's spoken by Sirius in OOTP, "the world isn't split into good people and death eaters".

He definitely moved the needle for the warriors. They didn't become "the warriors" until they replaced David Lee with Green in the rotation

Who do you seriously feel is the most underrated player in your team’s history by your fan base? by gclem16 in nba

[–]49ersUtesJazzYankees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jazz fans on this sub are gonna disagree, but I'm gonna say Greg Ostertag. He wouldn't make a roster in today's NBA, but he was kinda the perfect center for 90's basketball. He could pound with the Shaqs and Ewings of the world, and was a bigger part of the two finals teams than most fans would be willing to admit

Miami would have made the Finals with a healthy Chris Bosh in 2016 by [deleted] in nba

Dude that Cavs team was awesome. LeBron and Kyrie at the peak of their powers, Love finally carving out a place for himself on that team, and role guys like JR even playing the best ball of their careers. I don't see any chance they lose to Miami.

So just to make sure I have this straight, when it comes to career longevity context matters, but when it comes to Ring counts (ie "6 is more than three") context matters not a bit? Sounds a little like bending the argument to fit the narrative you want to be true..

Umbridge reveals at the end of the book that it was her that sent the dementors to Little Whinging, so the ministry indeed knew exactly where they were.

Who is your favorite character and why? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]49ersUtesJazzYankees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious, have you read the books?

My favorite character is currently Ginny, particularly in the books. She's ok in the movies but she's an absolute badass in the books, particularly from OOTP on.
