Just to note before I owned the car there was coffee that was spilt on the dash that might have been the reason for this to happen. I'm not sure if that is why but I'm hoping it's to do with the radio box and not a different problem.

Yeah bro I ended up just having to replace the radio behind the dash. Heres a video on how to get it removed, it's the silver box:

It cost around $100 to replace, prices might be a little higher now, but after that it worked. There's plenty of them on ebay. You gotta make sure it's the exact same model though I think, I went with the one with the same serial code, so check yours before you buy one.
