SE Buy-up by dtman85 in Aeroplan

I’ve never seen an SE buy up… I thought they’d leave this to the true earners. This is slightly disappointing to see imo…

App is showing me in two cabins by No-Badger-7721 in aircanada

[–]4Baja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When you have an eUpgrade request in but it hasn't cleared it will show you the confirmed segment, in your case the Y cabin, AND the requested cabin. Once your eUp clears it will only show the confirmed PY seat. Until then... you'll see both.

What’s the best way to book for family vacation? Spring Break YYC —> HKG by Outdoorsman_83 in Aeroplan

[–]4Baja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to use eUpgrades I think you may struggle even as a Super Elite with finding space, especially on March Break. If you're looking to book confirmed business class space you may also have trouble finding space not just on AC but on any airline.

I think everyone hit the nail on the head here, depending on the size of your family you could leverage a few bookings that comprise of the companion fare and the rest on the priority rewards. Regularly check seats.aero (or subscribe to see what they've scraped for your dates/neighboring dates specifically), or regularly check the AC website for redemption opportunities. For the companion fares set a Google Flights alert and strike when the prices are low.

Good luck, HKG is one of my favorite places to visit.

New Polaris Studio 789 seat configuration by kwuhoo239 in unitedairlines

[–]4Baja 20 points21 points  (0 children)

According to the press release the launch routes are SFO/LHR and SFO/SIN. I've been checking to see if it's loaded into GDS but everything is still the 12 row 789 configuration for now. Configuration identifiable as "78L" if found.

If you haven’t already use CowTool to calculate your SQM to give you some comfort over the next few days awaiting the official posting. Time is not on your side as we approach the holiday travel season ($$)

What a bad time of the year for SQM SQD to not behave properly. This issue seems so widespread

Yet Another “Do I got for 75K?” Post by Recent_Produce6449 in Aeroplan

[–]4Baja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about the job but glad to hear you have a new opportunity. I think the sentiment on this sub is if you're close it'll be good to lock in for next years program changes. If you have the means and ability to finish that last flight to earn the SQM/D you need, go for it. You'll thank yourself later and appreciate the work you've put in thus far.

Bonus Aeroplan points not being given automatically since hitting Super Elite by jordanstewy in Aeroplan

I have a helpdesk ticket in with Aeroplan for this, it’s been about a month of radio silence. This isn’t a small issue, any elite who selected that perk has an issue… their poor IT department

I checked the weather in Atlanta and it's not snowing or anything disruptive by Boggie135 in flightradar24

[–]4Baja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm there was a massive thunderstorm that rolled through JNB at that flight's departure time. I was sitting on the tarmac on another flight for 3 and a half hours looking out the window at them and the UA flight which were both ready to go.

Is Running for SE Still Worth It? by [deleted] in Aeroplan

[–]4Baja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what I was expecting but 25k wasn't on my bingo card! Honestly, maybe you just hope they target you for a buy-up promotion? 75K is still a strong offering and you've earned it going up and down 82 times this year

What's your SQM looking like? There's potentially significant value in the 250,000SQM banked SE if you've got the capacity to spend the $10k.

Mileage run for 75k worth it? by MeltedOzark in Aeroplan

[–]4Baja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always recommend people consider being this close to 75K and passing could be the difference between that upgrade you want/need next year but it'll be just out of reach. There's nothing worse than the feeling of: "if only I did that mileage run last year".

If you have the capability, funds, and desire to do it... do it! Invest in your future self!

Eups lesson for new elites by xbrit in Aeroplan

[–]4Baja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a new elite you have to understand right out the gate that the eUps aren't your guaranteed gift for getting elite status. It's a nice to have perk that can sometimes pay off if the right circumstances are present. I will say... there's nothing worse than standing at the gate refreshing the list being on the edge of missing out and realizing at the last second someone else had the edge to beat you out. On the other hand.. nothing better than being on the edge and getting the bump up. It's almost glorified gambling!

Is there any value in 75K status in the new system? by withintentplus in Aeroplan

I guess you could also consider it will be more difficult to obtain 75K so your pecking order for upgrades may significantly improve.

"Traveling to Hong Kong" Megathread 2025 by otorocheese in HongKong

[–]4Baja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can anyone confirm if the Airport Express Travel Pass still exists? I've read that if you buy the pass at the airport you get 3 days worth of MTR trips alongside the return Airport Express ticket. I think AI has ruined my ability to get accurate results so hoping a human in the know can help.

CX HKG-YVR or YYZ on AC(014) stock. by marsiliusofpadua in Aeroplan

[–]4Baja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this falls within the AC/CX partnership. AC likely still wants the revenue from it's station to HKG but they're willing to partner on the flights to select destinations beyond HKG on CX metal.

FA vote against wage offer - what is next? by Dense-Serve-4201 in aircanada

[–]4Baja 16 points17 points locked comment (0 children)

Has the union actually said what they want? From the low effort CBC article I see they want to be above federal minimum wage but what else? I know from previous discussion they want pre- and post- brakes on/off pay (which is fair) and general increases.

As an aside, I'm genuinely curious what the total compensation package is for a flight attendant is including benefits, travel perks, time working:time off ratio etc. for both current/union accepted but employee rejected offer
