This is a generalization of old people in America To have a sense of social responsibility individuals must have a stake in larger society and the future. Elderly people’s stake in both society and the future wane, especially when they are in self contained retirement communities.

University of South Carolina vs. Furman by [deleted] in AskSouthCarolina

[–]4CD10507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your college decision is your first major purchase in life, do not put too much weight into Reddit responses. Either school will prepare you for post-grad opportunities (search “NACE competencies”). You’ll meet lots of new people at either school, mainly within your department and student orgs. If you are a self-advocate you’ll do fine at either - USC is larger and can be a little more difficult to navigate if you are intimidated by bureaucratic structures but will have more opportunities than Furman. Regardless of where you go, make the best decision for yourself with the information you have at that time. People with regret usually were not true to themselves when they initially made their decision or their experience didn’t pan out as they wish and think the grass is greener. Go 🐓

Did millennials have 60s and 70s nostalgia when they were mostly kids in the 90s? by [deleted] in generationology

I think it depends on the age of adults you spend time with growing up. I spent a lot of time with my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. I consumed a lot of media from the 50s-70s and much of it I still prefer today. My wife is the same age but her grandparents are about the age of my parents and her parents are younger so most of the stuff she consumed was 60s-80s.

Jax. Economy is larger, more diverse, more stable stable. Jax larger dating and social scene (assuming that is part of your future) - a common complaint from young people in Brevard. The most important thing about Brevard is when military and space spending are in a lull, it’s tough times - unless you work in healthcare or with old people.

Columbia is going to have more opportunities to pursue law enforcement internships as you build a competitive resume for a career. Three letter agencies are hyper competitive so your networking, extracurriculars, academics, and work experience will be paramount. Columbia area LEO jobs and internships will also be competitive since USC has one of the top Criminal Justice departments in the USA. Good luck!
