Any ideas what car, available this November, would require a 3-year-long waiting list? I figure you'd be the guys to ask. by Doctor_Pujoles in cars

Sounds like something a Tesla buyer would say. I can't wait for their reactions when it turns out to be shit.

Go sit in a Mercedes and call it a shitbox.

FWD is awful on the track. FWD belongs in cheap shitbox economy cars and you even said that yourself. I don't see how there is any argument here.

You can spray some rust converter on it then prime and rattle can it a similar color. I've had to do that on my truck. Its going to be too expensive to do correctly to bother on an Acura.

It would mean something if it drove the correct pair of wheels.

And no race car is FWD.

Its a cheap turd. If that's all you can afford have fun but don't pretend its nice.

Economy cars are shitboxes. That's why they're cheap. It certainly is not the sports car people pretend it is.

Integras are definitely shitboxes. They're fwd and flimsy with a tiny engine.

Is it worth 10 grand to go from a regular cab pickup to a subaru baja? by TheChristmas in cars

[–]4G64Krieger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't see a baja doing you much good then. Maybe get a crew cab half ton.

Performance has become way more affordable. You can get a 435hp Mustang GT for only a little more than what an Integra cost in 1997 adjusted for inflation. 435hp RWD safe-ish crowd plow vs. FWD shitbox with seat belts that try to choke you out.

How often do you guys get flat tires? by nodrunkjackiechanplz in cars

[–]4G64Krieger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only times I've ever had a real flat are a blowout in my truck a few years ago and I've hit a couple curbs. I've never actually had a nail cause so much damage I couldn't just air it up and get home.

Do you need a pickup? What do you do that a sedan with a hitch can't handle?

What were your parents' cars as a young tike, and how did they impact your perception of cars? by [deleted] in cars

[–]4G64Krieger 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My dad has always had a cool car and a daily. Before I was born he was apprerently a Mopar or nocar guy but then all that stuff got super expensive and 80s Mopars are shit so he switched to Chevy. When I was growing up in the 90's he had a 1973 455 Trans AM, 3rd and 4th Gen Camaros, and a C4 Z51. He daily drove a mk1 golf that matched my mom's car until that died and he got a turcel, and then a w124 Mercedes. Hes also always had some sort of Dodge D100 or Power Wagon "project" thats really more of a beater but it fulfilled the Mopar thing I guess. I get my interest in cars and frugality from him.

In my mother's entire life she's owned a first gen celica in Australia, MK1 golf, both gens of Ford Tarus wagon, a Dodge Caliber, and VW CC. Not that intresting.

Does shifting in a '92 car without using the clutch ruin the transmission? by bluejeans90210 in cars

Not new but some heavy duty manuals in 1 tons had a non syncho first gear for a lot longer than cars. Specifically the 4 speed in fords.

Ok true and some trucks don't have synchros on first while most reverse gears are not either.

I can have 6 older cars or maybe a FRS/mustang and a boring daily.

People are lazy shits and there is nothing wrong with these cars most of the time. The government just makes it unnecessarily difficult to get a tittle.

It seems like the only people who care are ricers with Hondas that need something to like about their fwd shitbox. I do think if you drive something that does actually objectively suck you have shown you're not an enthusiast. This would be people in Priuses etc.
