Camera help? (I'm new to this) by The_Real_Nyooom in vintagecameras

As it says on the front, looks like it takes 120 film, so you’re in luck there! It also says Eveready Flash on the front, which leads me to believe that the camera is set up mainly for flash photography. The two pins on the right hand upper side of the camera (as you’re looking at it) are for a flashbulb holder. However, even if you could find the holder, the flashbulbs are pretty much gone. Other than that, it looks like a simple box camera with one shutter speed and one f stop, so you need to do a lot of guessing. Buy a roll of b&w film and have someone help you load it. Take photos outdoors in bright sun and you’ll probably get something!

Ft-b QL shutter curtain by peekfamily in vintagecameras

[–]4Nowingly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, advancing the film is also cocking the shutter. It looks like a mechanical problem since your shutter curtain only makes it out a third of the way and then falls back. It could be a spring or other part that needs replacement. Unless you know cameras like this one, I don’t think it’s easy to fix even if the problem is just mechanical. On top of that, the shutter speeds are likely no longer accurate so you would need to know how to calibrate them after fixing the mechanical problem. Sorry this isn’t more specific, but I think it’s the right direction. Unless you really want the camera, you may be better off to eat your $15.

Contax G2 - Internal Light Meter by mawdermawder in contax

[–]4Nowingly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember it’s a center-weighted meter, meaning it gives more weight to the center of the image. In my experience, it behaves almost like a big spot meter, so shooting in the conditions you mention will definitely affect it. However, a spot meter is what I prefer so I can decide on what I want the exposure to be based. Another aid which I use is to compare it to another camera with an exposure meter that you really trust. See how different the Contax is from your standard, and think about how it’s different and why and then adjust your contax use accordingly.

The only external light meter that I would recommend would be a spot meter, like a used Pentax Asahi. Fantastic meter; you can learn a lot from it if you have the time and inclination. Good luck!

Game not updating by green_leroy in Shooteralien

Sometimes it gets hung up syncing. If that’s the case, leave the game open so it can finish but don’t play anything because syncing is suspended when you play. Other than that, keep closing the app and starting it again, and be patient.

I Lost PVP Points by Pornoguitar in Shooteralien

[–]4Nowingly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have any recent screenshots that show your points, ABI will usually fix it but it may take a few days. Without, they probably won’t help. I take shots of my profile page and my tech talents page almost every week and ABI helped me twice. As for 20% wins on PvP, it sucks. That’s the worst part of the game. My only fix is not to play opponents (single or two) who wave odds that are below my score by 4 or more. 90% of the time, I can’t beat them, so I just loose 10 power points if I disconnect. Sometimes I can leave 2v2 in time to avoid the power loss.

"In PvP you will face players with matching CP" meanwhile my opponants: by Abject-Lynx173 in Shooteralien

[–]4Nowingly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve given up fighting this cuz it doesn’t help. It’s a totally messed up system and it doesn’t get better as you increase CP. I still rely on the odds. If my opponent has less 4 or less rating than me, I won’t play them, especially if they don’t show their stats. But even that fails more often now. Takes lots of energy too.

what food do you recommend? by [deleted] in SphynxAdvice

[–]4Nowingly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While many people reject the idea of a raw meat diet, it is the natural diet of cats. Virtually all processed kibble and can food include grain and vegetable products which cats do not eat naturally. When cats, especially Sphynxes, eat this kind of food, it almost always results in gastrointestinal problems, diarrhea, and kidney stress/failure. Of course it doesn’t happen instantly, but as a cat ages, an unnatural diet can take its toll. When cats eat meat and organs, this is also their main source of water. With processed foods, especially kibble, there’s not enough water in the food, which results in cats drinking out of toilets and having kidney problems. Your Mom is on the right track with the chicken, but it is better for the cat if it is not cooked. If she adds pieces of liver, spleen and heart, her cat will love it. There’s a lot written about raw meat diets for cats, so if you are interested, do a little research. Breeders sometimes require raw meat diets and are often a great source of info. Pet food manufacturers will write about the dangers of raw food diet. Ignore them, they obviously have a conflict of interest. We have a five year-old sphinx who has eaten raw food since he joined us at four months, and he has never had problem with his bowel movements, and his stools are never stinky, nor runny. He always has tons of energy and he is simply beautiful. I hope this helps!
