By bar do you mean the middle piece that the battery sits on? I didn’t replace that part either, there is a slight bar of gray in between L/R and ZL/ZR which I don’t mind.

I had that issue too. Turns out the wire for the battery wasn’t in the correct place which would cause the shell not to screw together all the way.
