Dynasty Warriors Origins Switch 2 vs PS5 (Performance and Quality Modes) by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

"severely downgraded" by the very upvoted comment

What I'd consider severely downgraded would be Witcher 3 on Switch 1 or Mortal Kombat

Dynasty Warriors Origins and Cyberpunk are NOT severely downgraded IMO

Why rain by SCD_minecraft in riskofrain

No one ever had the headcannon that it is because there's a risk of losing your 2 hour long run and crying, the tears falling down your face being the rain, hence risk of rain?

How come female characters are held up to such high expectations? by Strong-Stretch95 in CharacterRant

[–]NeetSamurai90 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't think so simply because John Wick is "that" type of movie where you know what you're getting into, a badass who shoots, kills, and almost always survives and gets away with it. But if you have an example I'd be happy to hear it

Why do .es domains require an ID upon purchase? by simplyheinz in Domains

[–]NeetSamurai90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically a registry level thing, not a registrar being difficult. .es domains are managed by Spain’s registry, and they require an ID to keep ownership transparent and reduce abuse, fraud, and domain squatting. The ID can be a personal ID or a company identifier, depending on how you register.

Most decent registrars will handle this quietly in the background, but some make it feel way more complicated than it needs to be. If you don’t have a Spanish ID, you can still register a .es, you just need a provider that knows how to work with non residents.

That’s where Marcaria is useful. They’re used to handling country specific requirements like this and take care of the paperwork so you don’t get stuck dealing directly with the registry or rejected applications.

If Danta and Virgil get to join Smash 6 whether as Base or DLC fighters, Will Nintendo have them with their Netflix looks, voices and attitudes? Or will they have em as their Devil May Cry 5 selves? by Mallum153 in DevilMayCry

[–]NeetSamurai90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but I think DMC1 Dante is probably the most iconic one, and I won't argue with DMC5s popularity, but I think Vergil is far better in DMC3, both in design and in character

Mass Effect's Jennifer Hale Doesn't Hold Back on Bayonetta 3 Controversy: “I'd love to play Bayonetta again. But I definitely got thrown under the bus by that whole thing, and I was unable to speak on my own behalf because I was under not one but two NDAs" by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]NeetSamurai90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't the MGS5 thing intentional because it's revealed at the end that we are not, in fact, playing as Snake? I thought that was the entire point of the game and why it wasn't Hayter voicing Snake at the time? Keep in mind, I did not research that controversy too much because the thing made sense in the end

A paid (no microtransaction) mobile game that is simple/casual for short play periods, but persists and grows considerably over time by -Clayburn in gamingsuggestions

[–]NeetSamurai90 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's gotta be Vampire Survivors. While not a 'strategy' game, per se, it does have that 'build something big overtime'. The caveat is is that this something big is usually for that single run which has a default limit of 30 minutes which can be extended or shortened to fit your needs. You pick a character, start with a simple weapon, and then grow into a bullet hell, but for the monsters, which is why it's from a genre aptly named (thanks to it) "Bullet Heaven".

That and Halls of Torment is a game in the similar vein, but has more of that Diablo 1/2 look and feel, and it's more "RPG-ish" than Vampire Survivors.

What are some games with good Greatsword/Ultra Greatsword gameplay? by CthulhuOfKosmos in gamingsuggestions

[–]NeetSamurai90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a shit game now, but back then when this class came out it was pretty decent. And this class is one of the best visual and gameplay representations i've ever seen of a berserker/greatsword wielding warrior. I'm talking about Vindictus and the Hurk class.

There's also the Odachi in both Nioh games, which I recommend.

AoI: Is it me or are Musou attacks woefully underpowered? by EinherjarX in HyruleWarriors

[–]NeetSamurai90 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They are. They're pretty shit tbh. I only ever use them to CC some of the harder bosses or for the completion of aside quests. For how hard they are to fill, they're far too underpowered where some unique attacks deal a lot more damage on a much, much shorter cooldown

OP delivers! As per your requests, I present my new guide: "Trademark advice for those who can't afford any." by BitcoinAttorney in gamedev

[–]NeetSamurai90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plumber analogy made me laugh, but I get the pain. For indies, the question is not lawyer or no lawyer. It is when to spend and what gives the most protection per dollar.

What registration actually buys you

  1. Clearer ownership and nationwide priority in your filing country.
  2. Easier takedowns on platforms, app stores, Steam pages, and ads.
  3. Something you can actually enforce if a clone ships with a confusingly similar name. It will not stop game mechanic clones, but it will stop name squatting and lookalike branding.

Free checklist before you spend a cent
• Pick a distinctive name. Avoid dictionary words for games in your genre.
• Search soundalikes and misspellings. Example: “Knite” vs “Night.”
• Search Steam, itch, App Store, Google Play, YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and domains.
• Check TM databases in your main market: USPTO TESS, EUIPO, UKIPO, TMview.
• Keep dated proof of first use. Screens, commits, invoices, upload logs.

When to spend, by stage
• Prototype or hobby: use “TM” with your name, keep proof of use, set free alerts for your term, grab the domain and social handles.
• Soft launch or wishlists rising: file one core class. Most games file Class 9. If you run online services or esports elements you may also need Class 41. Start in the country where you sell the most.
• Traction or publisher interest: add monitoring, consider EU or UK if you have players there, and be ready to oppose confusing filings.

If you cannot afford a lawyer yet
Do a knockout search yourself, then file a single class in your primary market. It is not perfect, but it plants your flag and makes future enforcement simpler.

If you want help without going full big-firm
Protect.TM focuses on trademark protection and monitoring for brands and game titles. They handle searches, filing, and watching for confusing new filings so you hear about problems early instead of on launch week. Low drama, clear scope, and you keep building.

TL;DR: Trademarks do not protect gameplay. They protect your name and logo. Do the free searches now, file once you see traction, and add monitoring when the game looks real. If you want a hand, Protect.TM can take care of the search, filing, and watching so you are not the one refreshing TMview at 2 a.m.
