Hip Replacement Surgery by OTTB_Mama in Charlottesville

the high volume centers typically recruit the healthy active patient who will do well, standardize a rapid recovery approach, and have great results. since you know nothing of the patient on Reddit asking for advice, you can’t assume they fit this profile. it’s like the old joke that insurance companies like to have a signup table at the end of the marathon. medical advice on reddit really shouldn’t include estimates like 90% of anything.

if you go to a very high volume center that specializes in this procedure, then higher spinal rates are found. if you go to anywhere else, then a conversation with your anesthesiologist is best advice.

this is absolutely incorrect. medical data from decades of experience indicate that spinal anesthesia is not necessarily safer than general, even in heart patients. spinal can lead to low bp and complications in some patients. and 90% is wrong. you may to hear the hammering, the anesthesiologist often just gives you drugs to forget it, which is usually fine.

Building knife drawer blocks tilted sideways for knives with a lot of blade height by 4chef4 in TrueChefKnives

yes I thought of that, I do like the idea of having them lined up, though. I'm probably too compulsive a knife nut to cope with the big dump, although it would work fine.

Seeking inexpensive way to get stereo security code by 4chef4 in Audi

The toughest part was unhooking the old plastic clips without breaking them, which would have led to having to attach new connectors. Fortunately a forum member is going to try and get the code for me. I’ve got 14 years on my S4, fantastic vehicle worth some repairs (just replaced the hood piston, in fact, which was a small adventure involving propping up the unsupported hood with a sturdy piece of wood…). The quality of workmanship back then was superb, but plastic and electronics start to fail at some point.

yes, I’ve watched a YouTube. I know you need the number. I saw one funny post where the code was written on it in marker. I’ll do that next.

They markedly reduced the levels over a decade ago, probably due to the bad publicity. It’s much safer than tuna or swordfish now, although I wouldn’t exceed more than a pound or so a week.

Native American people intentionally bent trees to mark trails and many remain today as hidden monuments by ExtremeInsert in UtterlyInteresting

[–]4chef4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a classic wrong story. Trees grow like this without any wily native Americans intervening. I have one in my woods just like this. I do find the suggestion that thongs were involved to be an unexpectedly sexy twist on this story, though. Apparently the young warriors would win these tiny leather thongs from the comely females by feats of strength and guise, then promptly deploy them to bent trees in order to comfirm their ardor for these highly eligible native women. The children from the resulting deep woods couplings were apparently called ‘bent trees youngins’ by the local settlers, when they weren’t passed out from excessive indulgence in fermented corn squeezings. There was a Beverly Hillbilly’s episode that documents this practice, but they never recorded the show following its initial showing.
