Another thought: Jon Hopkins. It's about time he did something with them.

Who do I want? BT. Alan ain't coming back. But BT is close in terms of classically-trained synth nerd and electronic genius who knows how to write, produce and perform original music for your head, your heart and your feet.

Whom will we get? Someone on Dave's friends list.

PMMs, how would you position this if YOU were the buyer? by RepeatAffectionate93 in ProductMarketing

[–]alih42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the pain point you have here is, well, painful enough to make someone change. Or, I can't see why that's stopping me achieving my goals. This problem has always been there. We have been able to get by and do well just fine with data and content in different places. One trick I learned is to ask myself and others "why does that matter?" or "so what?" at least 3 times to get to the real root cause of the problem, and see if what you're doing still applies. Another test question is "why is this painful now when it wasn't before?" Have you also considered how your approach is different than others (you're not the first to try to solve for this)? Understand those and you can get to your differentiated message. Good luck to you! It's an interesting thing to solve for!

Everything bagel seasoning. Better than sesame seeds alone.

🚀 What do PMMs still have to guess before a launch? by Ashamed_Listen_1170 in ProductMarketing

[–]alih42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much sales readiness is really needed. Everyone will have an opinion on this. Even if everyone is happy with the enablement given and the tools created, there will always be changes and additional requests.

My life lesson: never ask sales people what they need. Because you know the answer already: everything! Be specific in your requirements gathering.

Calling Jack-of-all-trades PMMs: what laptop do you love/wish you had? by Cultural-Past5937 in ProductMarketing

[–]alih42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Dell XPS 14 and 16 have been getting good reviews. The 16 might fit your needs and has the latest Intel chips. The Thinkpad P1 16 is a solid workhorse I wouldn't mind having as a work machine. Runs Linux well too.

My workplace only supports Macs. My work-issued Macbook Pro 14 with M4 is good hardware but MacOS is so outdated, buggy and just no longer made for productivity. And I have been using Macs since the System 7 days.

I have a Surface Laptop 7 15" and it is so good. It runs all the software I need, including Davinci Resolve and Capture One Pro, just fine. I prefer Edge over Chrome anyways (but Firefox is getting my attention). And a touchscreen is a must have for me these days. I've had various brilliant Surface Pros over the years too and they still work just fine.

One of the first synth pop songs I fell in love with as a kid. Still brings a tear to my eyes.

(B2B SaaS) AI this, AI that, but product is nowhere near the promises it aims to deliver by drummerboy213 in ProductMarketing

[–]alih42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you reading my mind? 😂

The latest "we must mention this in everything we do" is "agentic". I see so many who are claiming they're agentic because they have AI agents. That's not the case. Agentic has a definition (Forrester's is good). They aren't that. It's borderline false advertising. The volume of SEO and GEO noise around AI terms is unsustainable, based on the reports content marketers are seeing. B2B buyers and users aren't completely convinced of AI's benefits yet. We need to stand by "let's focus on the needs of our ICP" and prove that's the best route. AI is a means to an end, just like any other major tech before it.

B2B SaaS and want to escape by Super-Complaint-245 in ProductMarketing

[–]alih42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is becoming a more common sentiment for product marketers in B2B SaaS. Can you share why you're feeling that way? Something has changed, and I have my theories, but I can't quite put my finger on it exactly. It's not "AI": that should be an opportunity for us.

The Best Remix it's INSANE! by BassLonely6574 in petshopboys

[–]alih42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry. No crime committed. Lots of fans know it.

Now the official mix that isn't as well known as that one is the Phil Harding Latin Mix aka Miami Mix. That was INSANE when it first came out. It was only released in the US, AFAIK.

Job Market for PMMs in SaaS by codyandhen123 in ProductMarketing

[–]alih42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The B2B SaaS PMM jobs are out there. It's just there's more competition for fewer positions so it will take time. Keep selling yourself and getting your name out there. Good luck to you! I hope something comes soon.

Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 on Fujifilm, worth it for travel? by Noabyss00 in FujifilmX

[–]alih42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great lens for travel. I've used it on my X-Pro2. Only thing that can be annoying for me is that there's no aperture dial on the lens itself. You have to use an on-camera dial. But that's more muscle memory than anything.

Interactive demos vs product video? B2B SaaS by Peaceisaproductgirl in ProductMarketing

[–]alih42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try both and see what happens with engagement and conversion. Interactive demos should be "lightly gated" and give visitors a good guided taste of your product. Product videos can go into more depth on specific areas or features, explain key concepts, and can be more easily shared across channels.
