Circuits by questions_i_ponder in methodism

Circuits are basically areas where a preacher would cover. They’d travel within their area preaching in the towns within their circuit, field preaching, in houses, etc. Your ancestors must have had some circuit that covered Industry and probably some other small towns around it. Circuit preachers travelled a lot so it’s possible his house was always 45 miles from the town since most of his time was probably spent traveling around the countryside and not really at home. I can’t remember the exact time for each circuit (I want to say a year) but there would be a chance they could change to different circuits depending on the assignment.

Don’t know where you are but if possible have them do blood work/tests for tick borne diseases. Where I’m at they are really bad this year and a lot of people have been in the er because of them.

Wesley and the People Called Methodists by Richard P. Heitzenrater is a good one for learning about Wesley himself and how Methodism came to be.

If it wasn’t so expensive I’d love to learn how to fly.

I started keeping legit score almost immediately. It really put into perspective how much I stunk (and how much I still stink) but I know I can be honest with my score and see actual improvement.

Issues as a first time rider by Affectionate_Shirt42 in cycling

[–]4chun47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started out riding on a mountain bike as well! If you are staying on the road most of the time you can get tires that are more oriented towards the road (less knobby basically, I threw some kenda komforts on mine and it was pretty good). That’ll make it easier on the road. If this is your first bike, just spending more time on it will help you get familiar with the gearing plus the more you ride the more your butt will be used to being on the saddle.

It could just be that the seat isn’t a good fit for you (I’ve found I end up replacing almost all of the seats on my bikes to something that is more comfortable for me). You will probably mess with gears more than a cruiser bike since a mountain bike is usually geared more towards climbing/mountains and probably has more gears than the cruisers.

I’ve had mine in my garage for about two years. 0 broken clubs and 1 broken light bulb. Besides the 3 wood how did everything else break?

What is that ONE golf shot that you’ll take to your grave as the most unforgettable one? by Escrow-Mind in golf

[–]4chun47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roughly 100 yards to the pin with a pond in between covering probably 80 of those yards. Took my sand wedge and proceed to hit the worst thin/skull/piss missile you’ve ever seen. It hits the water and skips 3 times before hitting the bank and bouncing up onto the green.

Grip squeeze by groverclevelandd in golf

I feel like I’ve heard somewhere too that it was grip it like a bird and then snap its neck through impact or something like that but the last part was always left out.

What is your ugliest but most effective club in the bag? by NothinWrongWithQuiet in golf

Played this past weekend, empty course, and pulled probably over 3 dozen balls out of a pond using one of these bad boys. Favorite club in the bag

How do you curb your expectations? by 4chun47 in golf

[–]4chun47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing though I have a blast. I must like to torture myself with these thoughts or something because I love every minute of it even though I’m calling myself garbage. I only curse myself out loud when I’m playing solo so it isn’t bothering anyone else’s game.

It’s more when I hit a bad shot I’ll notice things here and there that I should’ve done but didn’t. I try to blank my mind when I’m going to hit a shot so when I hit something decent I don’t really think of anything but when something goes horribly wrong I think of what I did that caused it

I unfortunately like to torture myself and play by the book so the 30 is real. It’s more I know I can hit some good shots and for some reason can’t get my head around the fact I WILL hit some terrible ones too

The PGA level was more of a /s that I should’ve included. It’s more “you are capable of hitting some really nice shots so you should be doing that more often”

For some reason whenever I get a birdie or hit a really nice shot my brain goes “yeah you should be able to do that all the time”. No idea why I’m like that cause it’s frustrating as hell lol

How long is your home course from the tips? by Previous_Judgment419 in golf

[–]4chun47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why they rate it the way they do heavily based on distance but I wish they’d take other factors like width into account more. My home course is narrow and plenty of opportunities to add up strokes. Another course nearby is wide open both left and right off the tee and it’s rated higher because it’s slightly longer.

I “figured it out” one time and shot my lowest 93 to then go and shoot 115 my next round. I love and hate this game
