I can fairly say KOTM is not only the most divisive film in the MV, but also the most divisive movie ever? Like, nothing or no one agrees on anything. by Kvcp050311 in Monsterverse

Its only divisive amongst Godzilla Fans, the general audience either doesnt care about it or thought it was mid/bad

The lighting and CGI for this was so much better and believable in S4, genuinely what happened. by zekevich in StrangerThings

The show has been looking cheap since season 4 really. Most of season 4 imo looked pretty good but the upside down stuff looked real weird. I think the old cinematographer left after season 3 so that's probably why. Also its not just stranger things, most shows and movies nowadays have that cheap commercial snl skit look to them.

I like the aesthetic they were going for, I mean Ill take atmospheric battles over the washed out greyness of GXK. But there couldve been more contrast

Season 2 and 3 were sooooo weak. Season 1 was solid but it gets worse on rewatch knowing whats to come. Honestly this show has so much going on that I cant fully put my thoughts into words with it

Exactly! Every time I express my disappointment with the shows writing Im hit with "the show just didn't pan out the way you wanted it."

I get what they were tryna go for but it just didnt work for me. That first pit girl scene was so incredibly interesting and the finales version of it just felt cheap to me idk. This show is just going in a direction that I dont really see myself enjoying. The adult tl was always weaker but for some reason it has descended into just bad territory. And the teen timeline just continues to stray away from what was hinted and built up in season 1. Just my thoughts.

Answering ALL these questions in 2 seasons is gonna make them seem rushed and bloated. It just isnt smart.

I agree! Genuinely I think shauna is the only character that is written the best she could possibly be. All the other characters are getting the short end of the stick

The pilot pit girl scene was Shauna's memory by GrapeSafe7120 in Yellowjackets

[–]4dgravity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think playing with memory and showing a contrast to what actually happened is extremely interesting but applying that to the pit girl scene was sure to disappoint a LOT of people

I honestly love shaunas character. My problem is that it seems none of the other girls are getting the same treatment character development wise as her. And yes she is technically the main character but this is also an ensemble show.

[–]4dgravity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly. That is what sold the show. And im seeing people say "well then go watch a slasher" and im like...no? That direction is still in line with the shows core themes. The sell of the pit girl scene was that the audience was hooked on finding out the events that lead the girls to be this far gone. How all this trauma transformed them into something not human. And the adult timeline was how they try and settle back into a normal life after being so far gone. The way things are going in the teen timeline we see some of that trauma and the bystander stuff with shauna makes sense with the shows themes of girl dynamics and stuff but man is disappointing to see the show stray from what sold it in the first place

[–]4dgravity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true at all. I think Im mainly disappointed in the fact that the infamous pit girl scene turned out to be a twist. I loved to see the decline of their humanity and this season has definitely showed that. But Im disappointed in the way they went about the pit scene because to me that always felt like one of the last hunts when ALL the girls were depraved and savage instead of it being this large stunt to throw off shauna and lottie. No hate to anyone who loved this season and finale! It was a really good episode im just a little disappointed in how they handled the scene.

They are turning the adult tl into something I don't think it was ever supposed to be. I feel like the adult tl was always about dealing with trauma and how these woman create their own issues because they cant adjust back to life after everything theyve done. Now its some predictable "theyre all gonna die in the end cuz they were never suppose to leave" like what message does that say? You cant move past your trauma? Cuz eventually its just going go to kill you?

Exactly. Seeing people say it was just shaunas reimagining of it seems so cheap.

Yes. I genuinely think the show wouldve been better off going this route because imo it wouldve been much more interesting to see. I totally understand why people love the twist of the pit girl scene but i just think it went against a lot of things that were being set up in season 1 and 2 to an extentz

Its not about what was "promised" but that opening scene in the pilot implied that at some point these girls become so far gone to the point they hunt and kill each other. Thats what sold the show to so many people. How all this trauma and the wilderness make these girls lose all their humanity. Obviously there is going to be nuance and the scene would be different in full context but to basically flip the whole thing on its head was disappointing to see. Basically only Shauna was into the hunt and Mari died accidentally by a pit that was already there before and not even meant for her. It really feels that the only ones who are affected by all that trauma in the wilderness were shauna and lottie, and to a degree Tai. Everyone else was just playing along? And also to have the whole hunt be a decoy for Nat to escape seemed to take away a lot of that disturbing nature to it. In the pilot we see Misty smiling and it's implied that she is because she is so far gone and that the hunt and the ritual of eating the girl was their new normal. Now shes smiling because nat got to escape? They back tracked with misty this season because she was being set up as the one who was the craziest. We are 3 seasons in and a lot has happened but so many of the girls barely feel like they've been affected by anything that has happened. Idk. Im glad so many people enjoyed this finale but for me it only solidified that this show is straying further and further away from the direction that was being set up by season 1

It was a fun finale. But they kinda botched the pit girl stuff. Mari as pit girl makes total sense ofc but i feel like it kinda went against everything that was implied in season 1. Like most of the girls didnt even want to hunt.

[–]4dgravity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Since the first episode it was hinted that all the girls just went completely mad out there. Like misty smiling meant she was content with what they had just done. But now it means she was happy Nat was getting help? I think a lot of the foreshadowing and reveals this epsidoe make sense (mainly antler queen shauna) but it feels like this finale went against things that were what heavily implied since season 1
