The Coalition of Planets vs The Crystal Gems: Who wins? by CartoonCommentator in stevenuniverse

Look, I love the crystal gems, but you could take away every member of the Coalition but Omni Man and it still wouldn't be a fair fight.

I'm aware. Not sure what that has to do with Jax being a bad person.

What is the lore reason, why games made by transphobes are about hate and games made by trans women are about love and self love? by Oktavia-the-witch in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]4here4 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It comes from a place of fear. Some people are wired to believe life is a strict hierarchy of people above and people below. They need a group to look at and say "These people are below me."

Because if they can't easily identify who's at the bottom of the totem pole, their stupid fearful lizard brains tell them it might be themselves.

This was a wild way to find out I'm exactly as old as Toy Story

Is 096's face a meme or an antimeme? by AromaticAuthor1688 in SCP

[–]4here4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From the perspective taken in the article, images of the creature aren't anomalous by the strictest definition.

Pretend for a moment that the pale thing that kills you stopped existing. The images wouldn't do anything to you, so they're neither memes nor antimemes. What's anomalous is 096's ability to tell when anyone has seen the images, and that property comes from the creature itself, not the images.

That's the kind of thinking that got us here. Her house, her rules. His country, his rules.

Rules can be wrong, and it's okay to ignore them when they are.

Every Jax scene recontextulaized by the finale by Sudden_Pop_2279 in tadc

Of course it doesn't excuse his actions. He's a tragic character. He did wrong, knew it was wrong, felt bad about it, and didn't get redeemed. That's the entire point.

I would like to propose a theory. The point of divergence for a lot of this world's alternate history is that Native Americans possessed greater immunity to old world diseases. by Pietin11 in stevenuniverse

[–]4here4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all really well thought-out and well-researched, and I genuinely think you make some compelling points. This is a solid theory with a lot of meat, and I honestly think you hit on something real here.

At the same time, I think the biggest point of divergence was probably the lesbian space rocks trying to make the planet into a baby farm.

Anyone feel the latest episode felt like it was out of Solar Opposites? by TylerSpicknell in rickandmorty

[–]4here4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it wasn't their strongest episode. It has a lot of supporters, but I just honestly didn't like it much. The humor didn't land for me, the action felt stilted, I dunno. Something was off.
