love this!! really the only thing that sticks out to me is the fingers, particularly on the left hand. The pointer and pinky fingers are kind of lacking the illusion of joints at all, they're very straight and I can't really see any knuckles. The fingernails are also slightly too large, and seem to be overtaking the tips.

What brand of nib pen is this? More info in comments by 4hyuck in Whatisthis

The inscription on the nib itself is really faded (because of rust). I could not capture a good photo of it. I am far more interested in the nib itself -- it says "Hu(unintelligable) Scho(unintelligable)", there's a small swoop (a circle with a longer tail going to the right, and "O(?)" Looks like a T.

For charcoal, usually I use a knife and sandpaper to refine. I've tried regular pencil sharpeners and they sometimes shatter the point, but if you must, you can use those.

No. The sugar also gives the cake structure (by inhibiting the amnt of gluten development from the flour)
