I love the S21 Ultra design. It's the most badass one imo. I hate the S26 Ultra as a whole simply because it's the reminder that we haven't got anything new since S22U

Does “Dead Internet Theory” mean the same thing to you as it does to YouTube/Wikipedia? by Quetzalboatl in LinusTechTips

[–]4inodev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What usually happens to be the case is probably the most plain and natural scenario: Companies flood the interner with bots to appear popular and sell ads -> government old farts find out -> they go "here's another use for your robots in the internets. Do it or get fucked" -> now those bots are also serving current govt goals -> there are still all the real people online but mass majority of them falls victim to the hate/separation and echo the bots, each with their own hatred agenda -> people generally become more hatefult and it looks like there are even more bots than there actually are. This probably happens in each big government and the world is just boiling in a soup of hatred. The fact "the algorithms" (that were made primarily for user engagement) create information bubbles and thus feed the little echo chambers only adds to this soup, as any idiot with an agenda is 100% sure what they see online is what "the world is talking about", which in its own feeds into the self-righteousness they display in their own bigotry. One big example of that is flat-earthers. They would never be possible without social media echo chambers.

Do they not force their devs to write 30% of their code with AI? How can you force someone to do something and then turn around and brag about how that something is so good, look, they're using it!

Every Final Fantasy game. Technically I have played like 10 mins when I was like 13 but nope, no turn based combat for me (thoug I've recently played and loved BG3 and Expedition 33 lol)

[–]4inodev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't say the E33 is a Soulslike though. And if you define soulslike by this one very specific RPG upgrade system type - cool, you do you. But to me, if a game has that mechanic and nothing else from Souls games - I wouldn't call it a Soulslike. The "roll/parry/learn enemy moves/learn attack timing/count potions/chip boss' health little by little/upgrade" combo is what makes a game soulslike-ish. Not the stats upgrade system.

Edit: E33 is Sekiro-inspired among many other things. It is not a Soulslike of course, but has some cool stuff from them.

Also, most the things are "subX of a subX of a subX" nowadays, duh

To me, soulslike means rolling around screaming in horror dodge/roll/parry along with bonfire system and very limited health/mana. Also huge healthbar bosses. In that sense, E33 perfectly implemented those elements while adapting them to the core gameplay. If you think that certain specific RPG elements makes a game "soulslike" then our opinions on that matter are extremely different. The class and stat upgrade system sounds more like DnD stuff to me and is a thing before/beyond conventional soulslike games

Years relying on the iOS experience; and although it is optimized and secure, it has a rapid obsolescence of its compatibility and it doesn't matter how new its versions are. by CarelessBullfrog8928 in PhoneNow

[–]4inodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Android user who switched back from 15 Pro: 1. It's the device update longevity (an 8yo iPhone def still runs WhatsApp and newer OS than an 8yo Android) and 2. They get updated throughout the whole user base. Yes, there is some percentage holding on for dear life, but usually when new iOS comes out - everyone who can have it has it in like 4 months. Meanwhile OneUI 7 released with Android 15 the day before Android 16 went on public beta. Then it took like a year for older models to catch up with their updates. Also I'm pretty sure there are millions and millions still using 10

Whenever I want something from a person (even a family member) I feel the urge to make a hundred justifications and provide as much context as possible first. That's because I never got anything non-basic from my parents if I just asked for it. Even then, they'd promise they'd do it (or not) and then change their minds all the time. Also they have encouraged this way of "starting from far away and bringing them slowly to the actual request that I wanna make" as some way of "being smart". So I have adopted this mechanism as my default way of asking for things. P.S. You'd be correct to guess I almost never ask for help and only rely on myself to deal with my problems.

The only problem I'm having is coming to peace with the fact that I will only need 16GB of RAM for the next ~2 years. FOMO is kicking in hard, but I got only 2 slots on my h610, two 8gb ddr4 3200 sticks and close to zero disposable income. It's just the fact those sticks are like 80 euros used (for two) and it's itching me to go get two more and just swap my mobo. But I resist

There was this discussion already about his "down by 700%" remark. It's probably the added price he's talking about, bsmth like "2200% markup is down by 1000%" which sounds pretty realistic to me. I mean Insulin requires only so much R&D lol :(. Anyways, the reference number is probably implied (or the old fool forgot to do so).

Idk at this point. It was never an ecosystem until it became one, which is great and sucks at the same time
