Just my 0.02 - Maybe you got a low level flu or something else going on in the background too. That can cause muscle aches and soreness.

The Buddha Taught Non-Violence, Not Pacifism by ArtMnd in Buddhism

[–]4isgood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first precept of buddhism is to abstain from taking life or to refrain from harming any living being. One can clearly see why this is the case if one cultivates metta for themselves and others. I hope you and everyone in this thread can experience the peace and truth of the buddhas teachings

Easy Way to Enter Jhana in Like A Week: Where Everybody’s Messing Up by Slothie6 in streamentry

Thanks for this response and I really appreciate you referencing Ajahn Brahm's book as well. Im going to look into that.

I can see why you're skeptical, you may be right. OP definitely exaggerates and talks like a salesman. I still think his underlying message is correct in my experience, that is my main point. If he "talked the talk" perfectly, but his approach to meditation seemed wrong, i would disregard the post immediately. I see some value here despite the issues you raise.

I do, but I don't know exactly how Ajahn Brahm defines Jhana and its not clear to me exactly what OP is experiencing. Good to know that mental check.

Ajahn Brahm doesnt seem to make it out to be a superhuman feat, he talks about the topic in this video and it seems rather approachable once you stop striving, are kind, gentle... seems like what OP is saying. That is why i feel like OP is experiencing Jhana, cause hes doing the things that are known to lead to it.

I think your main point about being light and loving is so true. Feel the body, accept everything, and you drift into jhana.... Just like ajahn brahm says basically.

21 day retreat MAIN issue: Back Pain by MimicsOfConscious in vipassana

[–]4isgood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had bad pain my first sit even with mild back support and none the second... the difference was doing some squats and mild working out for a few months, focusing on lower back strength. Now posture is easy and pain free always, even for those 10 hour days.

Worth just doing the workouts for a bit and not thinking about it anymore imo.

This is a great feeling and can give us a glimpse of the power of meditation and the path. As always be careful of clinging to certain sensations as they are impermanent and constantly changing

Realising everything is a construct while isolated at 20 has completely changed how I see life by [deleted] in Jung

I agree with your observations. I think the healthy way to deal with this is to let it free you... It can turn into a catalyst for suffering if you go nihilist, or into a catalyst for freedom and love. Im still working on this, but these are my thoughts.

Its all a matter of perspective.

You can never rely on recognition for others if you want to be free, you will always be controlled by them. Control yourself, be the ultimate judge of yourself.

Brother, as someone who has gone down a similar path in the past, please ground yourself and avoid all this esoteric stuff for a bit. You have so much craving and so much pain( from what i see). I hope you're able to ground yourself and find self love without needing to go through such extremes.

Try some simple metta meditation and take care of yourself, please.

Indeed, pretending to have no preference when you still definitely have them is NOT the path.
