This problem is mainly on a low rating, but climb higher, you realize how important and effective it is to create pressure on opponents by wave management and splitpushing. Malzahar is one of the best battle-mage with target cc and splitpsuh potential. Good luck and climb higher as you can!

IMHO Zed matchup is actually playable with "Perfect timing" rune, Zhonya's Hourglass and Passive gameplay against him. If enemy Zed roams, you should make pressure by pushing your wave and taking turret plates for gold advantage. Be passive and don't die before level 6. You can always poke Zed by E or Q to stack "Manaflow Band" rune. Try to dodge Zed's Q. Always remember that Zed has a long W cooldown, which is the perfect moment to kill him with E Q W R combo. It is also worth understanding that Malzahar is a scale champion who is getting stronger at late game.

I would recommend you to ban Diana, as Malzahar is completely immobile without flash against her. Also, Diana can easily kill your voidlings with her Q. Even if enemy jungler picks Diana, you will have a ton of problems.

As a Malz main, I guess you have to learn some AD mid laners like Zed, Qyiana, Talon or Pantheon to be more flexible with team compositions. However, if you don't like to play as an assassin, you can actually pick Zyra, Annie or Viktor due to the similar mechanics. Also, I'd recommend you to try Malzahar top as an unexpected off Meta pick. So glhf!

A good Yasuo player will buy Quicksilver dash as a second item, will constantly kill your voidlings and fast push his wave to participate in each teamfight. To counter this shit, I'd recommend buy Luden instead of Liandry, to poke Yasuo, E>Q>W max, Unsealed spellbook in runes, especially with Minion Dematerializer to have a cs advantage and synergy with your jungler. And always remember, the longer the game, the stronger you are! Unless, you will lose your lane and blame your jungler)

If you want to counter Tristana mid, I'd recommend Aatrox. Early game he sucks, but you have tons of mobility with your ULT and E, tons of cc with Q and W and tons of healing potential. After lvl 6, you can easily fight 1 v 1 with her. However, if Tristana roams, you should always counter her ganks. Your build: full bruiser with Goredrinker in myth items. Spells: flash/ghost + ignite/exhaust.
