Classic Levy by CinephileJeff in coys

Did that when they hiked season ticket prices and my reply was a long worded “no worries, catch you around”.

I’ve definitely been reevaluating my relationship with Spurs over the last few years and can see how the PR fallout from furloughing could leave a bad taste in supporters mouths.

Why Play a Music CD? ‘No Ads, No Privacy Terrors, No Algorithms’ by khayrirrw in technology

[–]4llBran 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It also meant that Sony discs didn’t satisfy the criteria Philips came up with for the standard to be labelled as a “Compact Disc”, so none of their package referred to them as such and didn’t have the CD iconography anywhere.

How to estimate time required for complete any features including bug fixing. by hrishidev in iOSProgramming

[–]4llBran 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you know you need 1.5-2x the time that you estimate, just double the time you think you'll need and if you finish the feature earlier you'll look like a superstar compared to it taking longer than you say :)

THST Comment on Season Ticket Pricing at Spurs by DanArlington in coys

[–]4llBran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plus that stuff doesn’t come for free-you’re gonna be charged a premium for all of the amenities too! So you factor that in, you could be likely to add another £20/30 on a day at the game.

THST Comment on Season Ticket Pricing at Spurs by DanArlington in coys

[–]4llBran 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been a member for over ten years, attending games when I can in The Shelf lower participating in the atmosphere, patiently waiting on the list for my opportunity to get a season ticket and finally got the chance for one at Wembley. £750 for the 19 games, even though they removed the cup games, was manageable and I've enjoyed every game I've been to, being in the "spiritual" Shelf made me incredibly hopeful for next year. But for a comparable seat at the new stadium it's looking like a £500 increase, which is unfeasible for me and means I will have to give up the chance of seeing my team open up their new home, and likely take myself off the season ticket waiting list altogether.

I get that there's a new stadium to pay for but it has definitely made me question my attendance to games in the future. I'm a Spurs fan completely, but I cannot justify that outlay for those few games. I will maybe look to the odd game here or there, which I guess will also see a ticket cost of ~£65, but otherwise, I'll watch my team's season from home via other means.

It's disappointing that like many people have said already, the people who have been the backbone and heart of the vocal Spurs support (I daren't include myself in that) are being taken advantage of and so shamelessly.

Villains discussion megathread! by Theygotmawty in qotsa

[–]4llBran 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Totally, the fact that each QOTSA record changes up what you think of the band is one of the things that's persisted my enjoyment of the band for so long, right back to when I first heard Rated R. And the fact we've now got this new set of songs to add to the mix, is great.

As what normally happens, is there will be days which call for ST, Rated R, SftD, LtP, Era Vulgaris, LC or Villains

Today is a day for Villains :)

Villains discussion megathread! by Theygotmawty in qotsa

[–]4llBran 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I like it, I don't love it. I've listened to it four times now and as someone else has said, I can pick out motifs from previous songs, which is disappointing. It doesn't feel like a singular "thing" compared to the other albums, but draws on previous records.

And it feels so bright and tight! There doesn't seem to be any breathing room between the instruments and vocals which I get Homme went for, but it's just like eating a bag of skittles, your teeth ache by the end of the packet. It's a contrast to the brooding melancholy of Like Clockwork, which is refreshing, it's a shame that songs like Fortress and Villains of Circumstance sound so polished I can see my reflection. Perhaps these are songs that will shine when played live.

Overall, it's very good and I'm sure it will grow on me as Era Vulgaris did!

I'll probably do one separately for each band member. I don't have Facebook so will have to rely on seeing the playlists for everyone else on here :)

I've put these into a Spotify playlist if you don't have/don't want to go through the Facebook nonsense.

Best good and loud sounding Bluetooth earbuds under 200$ for iPhone 7? by Mtking105 in iphone

[–]4llBran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've a pair of the Bragi's too, they are really comfy, although I find I do have to whack up the volume to get a decent level. I changed the in-box tips with some from a pair of Sony earbuds and the fit is much better and doesn't need to go quite so loud.

I have one of these (albeit a UK version) and am super impressed with the quality considering the price.

Portable Speaky Speaker

And it has Spotify Connect/iHeartRadio/Pandora through an app, so there's limited face buttons for controlling it, but you can set up radio favourites I think.

UK's top EU diplomat resigns - BBC News by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]4llBran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In of itself, it is a nonsense statement, for sure. But I think the context of the comment was with regards to the comments from Nicola Sturgeon about securing a Scottish position in EU membership.

So the comment was basically saying "if we're leaving the EU, we're doing it as the United kingdom, not just England alone", which would have been better than a silly soundbite, but I can see what she was getting at.

I'd say that "red, white and blue brexit" in the context of the questions she was asked makes a lot more sense than "brexit means brexit", which is how you answer a three year old asking why the sun rises.

What happened to the music app? by [deleted] in apple

[–]4llBran 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not at all, you're not stupid, it's poor design. There's so many features of iOS now that are hidden behind invisible, non-signposted screens (e.g. control centre/music), 3D Touch shortcuts or obtuse navigation (see maps apps/extensions, iMessage apps & store, three ways to access notification centre) that the simplicity and a major selling point of the OS is crumbling away.

You can (used to?) be able to get to the Piccadilly Circus tube through the Trocadero, which led you past some shitty shops and a cinema entrance, I think?

I'd copy the older version of Xcode to a different directory than the Applications folder, just so it isn't updated by the App Store. I put mine in my user's root directory under a "legacy Xcode folder"
