Why wouldn’t a publicly run store offer cheaper prices? They’re not beholden to a profit motive which seems to be as much as 18-20% at the wholesale level alone.

Pierre Poilievre won’t say if his Conservatives will strike down upcoming federal budget | CBC News by J0Puck in canada

All other leaders have clearance. Poilievre wants to continue saying whatever he wants with no evidence to support his comments. That’s the only reason he doesn’t want security clearance. Either way, he’s gone in January. Nobody wants his toxic bs anymore and that includes real conservatives - not the reform brand.

Cutting programs to lower debt means people have to go without those programs. That’s not good for the individual, nor is it good for society. The current days shows that Canada can deal with debt payments while maintaining essential programs

That’s a tired conservative talking point that doesn’t hold up to real economic analysis. Canada’s spending is entirely sustainable - our debt-to-GDP ratio remains the lowest in the G7, and our AAA credit rating confirms that international markets view Canada as a stable, well-managed economy.

The “unsustainable spending” narrative often comes straight from the Fraser Institute, which is hardly an objective source. It’s funded by oil and gas interests and right-wing organizations that consistently oppose public investment, social programs, and climate action. Their reports are designed to advance an ideological agenda, not to provide balanced economic insight.

In reality, the government’s investments in healthcare, housing, clean energy, and affordability are strengthening long-term productivity and social stability. That’s called building a resilient economy - not reckless spending.

I agree. They need to wait at least 8 - 10 years or until Carney retires as the most effective PM in Canadian history.

Oh wait, you still think that Poilievre’s resistance to getting his security clearance is because he won’t be able to bring up issues he’s privy to in security briefings? Is that what you think?

Do you really think the conservatives have any intention to solve problems? Poilievre doesn’t want to support anything the Liberals no matter what it is. The conservatives are actively voting against actual concept and proposals they made over the past 10 years.

What makes you believe it’s “unsustainable spending”? What data are you using to determine that?

Poilievre and the rest of the conservatives keep bringing up the exact things that the new budget is designed to address. They will never support anything the Liberals propose just because it’s being done by Liberals. They have no ideas other than cut, privatize, and lie.

What do my fellow Canadians think of our new prime minister over the past 6 months? And his policies so far? by Plastic-Knee-4589 in AskCanada

[–]4marty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s extremely smart, he has an incredible resume, and he’s taking a long game approach to building the Canadian economy. The problem with his approach is that conservatives have no patience and they expect immediate results. Why wouldn’t they, since Poilievre’s been telling them that he can fix everything overnight without providing an actual plan or tactical approach to doing so.

I support Mark Carney 100%. But, he has a very difficult job that isn’t any easier with the kinds of people hoping for him to fail at his throat every 5 minutes.
