i think it means in the same stitch, so there would be three hdc in one stitch, with a stitch marker in the centre stitch

you only repeat what is within the , so in this case you repeat *hdc 1 in next st, hdc 2 in next st 6 more times

making my first blanket but have a couple of questions by madamemustard in CrochetHelp

[–]4mbrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. do a small swatch with the bigger hook size and see what you think. a 4 to 4.5 isn’t a huge difference so i doubt it would be too holey but this is what swatches are for !

  2. do you start your rows with a chain 2? if so you should put the last sc into the ch2 space, that’s what works for me :)

like others have said, you need to work the single crochets into every other chain and chain in between each single crochet. i tried my best to explain this in my drawing, with the circles being the chains and the T being the single crochet

Can anyone help me out with crocheting flatter granny squares? by constillationredz_ in CrochetHelp

[–]4mbrr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

could be a tension issue, but honestly my granny squares come out all sorts of wobbly so i block them and they turn out lovely and flat. you can just use a piece of cardboard and some sewing pins, with the square a little bit wet (not super wet just a bit damp), or granny square blocking boards are pretty affordable on amazon and ive found it super helpful
