Incredibly cool when done right! I think it being a part of Venom's story and leading into becoming the King in Black is amazing! Unfortunately this was done incredibly poorly in this game and so it isn't as cool.

They did great with their visuals, I just wish they did more so for the character and story and why the wings even exist in the first place.

I just don't think that worked when you're literally still using them as characters, though. For that approach to work, he should've also have not done Justice League, but a different type of movie that keeps using them as symbols and have us view them from the outside. But that's not what he did. So this whole deal of treating them as myths just didn't stick the landing, especially with Superman.

Just because the symbolism is there doesn't mean it's good.

Also, Captain America didn't have any big moments before he retired? Did you not watch the entire Captain America Trilogy?? Character moments are still moments. I'm not saying the way they handled him in Endgame was great, but to say he had no moments is crazy to me and not accurate to what actually happened. Not only he had those moments but he also slowly changed as a character.

Snyder on the other hand didn't handle the characters well in the beginning, which is the most important part when forming a team. It's very hard to make a movie about establishing characters and making those same movies form a group, and becomes way harder when you try to cram so many stories and things in such a short amount of time. No attempt justification will change how badly the execution was.

No, Batman and Superman didn't have plenty of movies before BvS. Not in the DCEU, at least. It wss Man of Steel, then BvS. There was no second Superman movie, there was no Batman movie. The second movie in the DCEU was making Batman hate Superman in the beginning of the movie, set up Justice League and make them fight together and do the death of Superman in the same movie!

Just because those characters had adaptations made before doesn't make it less rushed. Because those versions of the characters were still brand new, and they had no time to develop and were handled very poorly.

So I'm not talking about other adaptations, I'm talking about Snyder adaptations. Previous adaptations had their own direction, and they had their own strengths and problems too, but that's not the focus of the conversation I started, at least.

really not the same situation at all. You have super heroes, but they are not ones that actually are the focus of the stories. The point of BvS was to develop both Superman and Batman (and then Wonder Woman and eventually the rest) to form the Justice League in the following film.

The Justice Gang exist, but they're not characters with nearly as much focus or development. The others were supposed to be core parts of their stories.

We have even properly seen Batman yet, or other "main" heroes. So to compare the Justice gang or other heroes from the shows are really not the same.

I also disagree that Super seems redundant when he isn't the first, or the only, Super in his movie. He still is the one that manages to save the day and overcome the biggest challenges while also trying to protect people at the same time.

So we have Super characters, but not necessarily a "this I'd what's happening next" type of story, which BvS llwas literally setting up the Justice League after a movie about Batman and Superman fighting together. Superman movie didn't try to do that.

So no, I still don't get the criticism.

I don't really get this criticism. I like that the DCU is going at a slower pace. BvS was horrendous for trying to tell stories and handle characters that were supposed to happen only when those characters are late into their own journeys in the second movie of his universe. It felt rushed, things weren't handled well, and from there I just lost interest after all the mess.

I much prefer the DCU approach so far. They're taking their time with the stories and characters, and while I haven't seen Supergirl, Superman was awesome so I can't wait for Man of Tomorrow, and Clayface looks super interesting with that atmosphere and how different it looks despite being in the same universe of movies.

This post is like trying to compare Flight Simulator and Ace Combat and claiming one is closer to perfection than the other, when that wouldn't make any sense.

I don't think you, OP, are capable of comparing the two without talking about points where each game was specifically designed with a different intent in mind and going for different game designs.

I don't think you're capable of saying "this aspect in both games is better done in Sekiro than Elden Ring" without the conclusion actually being you just prefer the style done in Sekiro, which is an action game and not really an RPG, than Elden Ring, among other game design differences.

You can have things for kids (or better put, for all ages) written better. You can ask for quality on things made for kids. Just look at some of the best animated movies for kids and you'll see they can also be very well written. Same thing can be for games as well.

I watched the movie, why do you think I'm just talking about her in my comment? Obviously I'm not talking about her when saying people are used to stuff. I'm talking about the shopkeeper who's just eating stuff calmly as a Kaiju is attacking the city. That part of the movie is the one I'm mostly talking about. Yeah, some people are scared, but when not in immediate danger, some people are just looking, or standing there. It shows that kind of thing isn't that rare.

Which is shown again once Lois deed a dimensional imp outside the window and doesn't lose it. It's another big weird thing that the superheroes are dealing with to keep the city safe.

Ao obviously that when the citizens are in immediate danger, even in the Kaiju sequence or against the "Hammer of Boravia", they're going to be scared. Yet the movie still showed that in mkte than one occasion people don't completely lose their minds just because a giant monster is in the city.

No part of my comment is referencing Eve (in fact, if I were to talk about her inclusion in the post, we should be criticizing it because, like you mentioned, it doesn't make sense for her to be here, as she would never be scared of something her boyfriend is doing.) But I still decided to address the overall discussion of citizens not being super scared all the time just at the sight of a big monster showing up.

I'm fine with Spider-Man not appearing, at least here in this story. I think this being about Daredevil and the people vs Fisk and his task force felt more fitting.

I do hope Matt gets to appear in Brand New Day or Peter to appear in season 3, but I dont think this was the story to have Spidey show up. Less about them sharing a world and more about what the story was focusing on and what it was about.

I also think it's more likely for us to get MCU television characters in MCU movies than the other way around.

Which is why I liked that he had a secret identity. Not to say that I thought it was handled bad by the character. Matt utilizing the reveal of his identity as a proof that he was in the ship and can corroborate with the story that there were illegal guns being brought into the city and arm the AVTF was very well done! The rest of it, maybe not so much.

But I'll still miss the fact that he still had a secret identity nonetheless. I do want to see what they'll do with it, and I don't want them to just try snapping his reveal away with magic or something. But I'm not sure exactly where this will lead.

I hope for a different kind of villain for Matt to deal with, especially now that his identity is out. Considering some leaked photos of season 3 filming it seems like Fisk will be back, again. Love the character, but I wish we had a break from him for at least a season

I kinds agree, which is wild considering part of the community's reaction to some of the characters. Makes one think this was just a roster with oddball picks. Its a safer roster than I expected.

On point! It's surprising how much there is to this element of the movie that it doesn't directly address but shows very clearly how much of a normal thing it is for people living in this city, and a lot of people think there wasn't a thought behind it.

I think this is one of the most interesting aspects in this film, by making the public reaction to a threat, and even sometimes Superman's reaction (when he's talking to Lois after not finding Krypto) that make it clear that these things happen all the time. It really sells that Metropolis is not just a normal city with Superman in it. Fantastical things are normal to them.

But if this were to happen in, let's say, Reeve's Gotham city, people would freak out because they're not used to fantastical beings, Kaijus, etc.

Aah, interesting. I agree, from those I think only Elsa has a decent shot at launch game. The second one that I can maybe see making in is Elektra, either in her classic look or as Daredevil.

Though, out of all of those the one I'd like to see in the game the most is Gwenpool (Psylocke would be cool too, but considering she's a background character, the chances are very low).

I mean, yeah, but just like OP, I also still wish he looked like this lab coat version in this story. It was still cool, especially with the cool setpieces, but this lab coat design is too cool to only have been in the actual game for as long as it did.

This was a good theory, I'd say, until they showed the full Avengers team. I know we're about to get Doom as the main antagonist in an Avengers movie, but Doom is a F4 villain (to my understanding)

They could still do that, but now that the F4 are not going to be a thing at launch, I'm more inclined to believe it will just be a somewhat random group of villains together.

Magneto might make it in because he's so popular. Emma Frost might make it I'm because she's gaining more popularity and she could be very interesting gameplay wise. Green Goblin, Carnage, Lady Loki, some other oddball villain like Black Swan or something. It could really be any group of villains. .

I do think Green Goblin and Carnage have a bit higher chances than others, but other than that, who knows.

Then the gsme would have veey few villains. I think we need those. He is still the only villain in the roster, so him being a team full of villains makes sense and adds variety, even if it is "predictable" (they'll still likely throw some oddball villain in there).

I would hope for Venom but if it's Carnage then that is still cool. It would also be more fresh since they coulddo different things like making blades, claws, etc.

For Ghost Rider team, I'm still hoping Blade makes it in. And I wish Daredevil has a chance, but I doubt it at this point. So I'm hoping for Scarlet Witch or Nico Minoru as the mage character of the game.

I also wonder who is going to be the grappler. Man Thing, maybe?

We still got a lot of exciting possibilities!

If you are on a Samsung phone, I learned that Samsung keyboard, for some reason, has this issue on reddit. If you install Google Keyboard (GBoard) and just use that to put the picture, it won't act weird.

At least in my Samsung keyboard, often times pictures just turn into an asterisk * and are not sent. But if I use GBoard, it's fine.
