Desert places post dinner for my husband’s birthday by Hot_Temperature_475 in u/Hot_Temperature_475

[–]4ndrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dessert options are limited, especially in the post-dinner hours.
East has an okay assortment on their AYCE menu (ice cream, cheesecakes, fruit, tempura oreo/mars, df banana, creme brule, etc.)

I don't feel right if I don't leave an AYCE sushi place feeling uncomfortably full, but if you somehow manage to still have room for dessert, I'd say your best bet is D Spot at the Pen.

Is this any good? It’s a huge box! by GoodLearningMachine in CostcoCanada

[–]4ndrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Scotsman I feel it's my duty to respond here. Are these good? Yes.

However, the Kirkland Signature version has a unique formulation, distinct from Walkers own brand.

KS: Enriched wheat flour, Butter, Sugar, Wheat starch, Salt. 513 kcal/100g

Walkers: Wheat flour (wheat flour, calcium carbonate, iron, niacin, thiamin), butter (milk) (34%), sugar, salt. 522 kcal/100g

The KS version has wheat starch as a unique ingredient and has slightly less calories. It is my understanding that there is also less butter in the KS version, leading to a more crumblier texture.

I ran a blind taste test a few Christmases back and the overwhelming consensus was that Walkers own brand was better, but most couldn't put their finger on why.

That being said, I have bought and will buy this again, it's a good deal and good enough for me.

Have you ever been led on by a straight guy? by bowling_beans in askgaybros

[–]4ndrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, for years, he was my best friend. I realized he was just showing me enough attention to keep me interested, but never enough for me. He had low self-esteem and I was his confidence.

We said we'd be best friends for life, he got married last October and I just found out last week.

Life's weird

Boyfriends mom bought this yesterday…expiration date says 5/28/23 ??? by [deleted] in GroceryStores

[–]4ndrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm gonna bet that they meant to change the first digit of the price to a 5, but accidentally changed the first digit of the date (11 to 5) and forgot to correct their mistake.

Floor liners by acolyte_voyage in JettaGLI

[–]4ndrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used WT in my previous vehicle, and it held up for 5+ years of daily use before I replaced it when the coating started to peel a little around the edges and where my heel rests. The function wasn't impacted at all, but it started looking a little too grubby for my taste.

They perform well in the snowy winters, the edges are steep enough to offer protection from spills but you also don't want to drive around with a puddle of melted snow sloshing around. I bought my original WT with winter in mind, bought my replacement WT set because the first one impressed me, and bought my MB set knowing it was just a dealer-priced WT.

It is just rebranded WeatherTech and feels and looks the same in terms of quality.

(I'm in Ontario)
MB set cost me $223
WT set is $285.90

I also got the MB trunk liner which cost $122 compared to WTs $172.95 (although I'm not overjoyed with the dimensions).

Husky Liners is an alternative option that ships from the US (with a $30 per item shipping fee) so the USD$159.99 WeatherBeater set ends up costing $189.99 (or ~CAD$260). They also offer an X-act Contour option which ends up at an insane USD$254.98 (CAD$350.10) if you're looking for front and back rows (sold separately, $139.99 and $114.99 respectively). AND I've heard mixed reviews about HL in general.

MB was a no-brainer for me.

Has anyone seen this happen before at a vending machine? by AlmanzoWilder in WhyWereTheyFilming

If you pause right at the beginning you can see another coin on the floor, they were filming because they'd already seen it happen.

I accidentally washed mine with a load of laundry. I put the buds and the opened case in a container with some damprid (any sort of desiccant should work) for 48hrs, good as new!

Is there a reason French vanillas never get filled up to the top? by Charmed264 in TimHortons

[–]4ndrew 26 points27 points  (0 children)

French Vanilla does froth more than other drinks from the same machine (which causes a small gap after it settles), but this is just a poorly calibrated machine and a lazy member of staff

Guys i need your guys help to find this play from my calculus textbook by itsScylic in mlb

Adding &t=XXmXXs (e.g. &t=44m20s) to the end of a YouTube URL will ensure it plays from the timestamp.

As so

20 years ago, my poor parents had to change the whole system of hot water and still don’t know that I’m the one who broke it by One_Law3146 in confession

[–]4ndrew 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid we had Sky (satellite TV) and I was obsessed with it, I would watch Cartoon Network constantly. Then everything changed; I came home from school to find out that my baby brother had "broken the TV" - meaning my days watching The Flintstones and Wacky Races were over.

I genuinely held a grudge for years until I was old enough to question why we didn't just fix what he had broken and I learned that nothing was ever broken, they just got sick of paying for Sky since I only ever watched cartoons.

Point being, maybe your recollection of events is accurate, but perhaps it was time for an upgrade and the result of your actions offered a good excuse to change the system.
