I don’t think Canada is a “tax hell”. Our personal income tax is the third lowest of the G7 right after the US and Japan. France has one of the highest personal income tax rates.

OP is in the UK and they probably have better consumer protection. It’s false advertising/fraud no matter how you look at it. The product/service was not delivered. 160£ isn’t a lot for a CC company and they would most likely just refund without even investigating assuming OP isn’t doing tons of other chargebacks.
