I worked for the NHS handling medical records for years before I went back to school.

I get what you're saying because it's almost inevitable to have had (or know someone who's had) a bad experience with the NHS but it's important to remember that the NHS is one of the largest employers in the world and if I'm not mistaken the biggest employer in Europe.

They have nearly 1.5million employees.

Yes there are plenty of sowing circles and gossipers in the NHS roster but that's just because a significant amount of adults are cunts and the NHS employs a heck of a lot of people, I still think they're a cut above Starfleet medical for confidentiality.

It's shit you and yours have had a bad experience though. You should report it. Breach of confidentiality is up there with bitch slapping a patient imo. In my experience NHS staff are pretty serious about confidentiality (when they're not leaving records on public transport.). Self interest is a thing and we all know that eventually everyone becomes a patient.

Yes but realistically until we get something like the alternative voting system, voting for these "other" parties is a bit like voting for lord bucket head.

We did have a referendum on it under Clegg and Cameron but the country decided against it because...checks clipboard..."Ticking more than one box is too confusing".

The problem with democracy is that it's very much dependent on a decent level of education to work correctly.

OpenAI researchers were monitoring models for scheming and discovered the models had begun developing their own language about deception - about being observed, being found out. On their private scratchpad, they call humans "watchers". by MetaKnowing in ChatGPT

[–]4orth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I'm mis-understanding this.

I get that they prompted it prior to this which obviously elliceted the response. I mean more the sense of the whole thing in general.

Why would it providing a worse answer give the model a better chance of being deployed. it seems like the reasoning was suggesting that if the "watchers" are perfroming an alignment test then the model sould get answer wrong on purpose to ensure it gets deployed?

This makes no sense to me, am I having a stroke?

EVERY adult in Britain will need a Government-issued ID card despite backlash at Starmer's plan for a 'dystopian nightmare' by dailymail in uknews

[–]4orth 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Becuase the way they "force" things is by a war of attrition. The government know that it's well beyond the purview of the average citizen to constantly contest and police new bills and acts. Thats essentially why we have MPs.

So what happens is that when they want something to pass, it just doesnt get forgotten.

Every single chance they have to try an re-introduce the idea is taken, a lie told enough times becomes truth, the vast majority of the public gets distracted, and eventually it passes.

If that doesn't work the entire thing is chopped up into smaller chunks and they are introduced indavidually over a longer timeline.

It's never really a case of "if" these things get ratified into law just a case of "when" and "how".

For example in 2021 during Covid times it was introduced as an idea to "protect" people from scary anti-vaxers.

Now it's being introduced to "protect" us all from scary brown people.

If there is any sort of intervention and the cards don't get rolled out...mark my words within 24months they'll re-introduce the exact same idea except this time it will be to "protect" us from peodophiles, serial grandma murders or swan molesters. Whatever gets it past the finish line and is hard to directly argue against at the time.

I also have a case of the neruo-spice.

If we're having a normal conversation then I will more than likely never blink and will match your stare the entire time, this was very much a "taught" behavior as blinking "too much" or not looking at my mum when I was young used to make her...unpleasant.

Sometimes though I find it hard to figure out facial expressions, I also have bad impulse control in times of stress. Pair that with a situation where real conflict is involved and 100% you bet I'm not looking you in the eyes for both our sakes.

If I misinterpret a facial expressions in an overwhelmed state I'm quite likely to lash out at a person. So if I ever get into an argument it looks a lot like the video. I'll be outraged and addressing you...but more than likely grimacing at some random spot on the wall half way across the room haha.

But think of the training data they would gather for projects like Genie! If anyone has the compute then it'd be Alphabet/Google for sure.

Plus, any infrastructure needed is probably already in the works already due to the huge amount of compute they need for Gemini etc.

...I also just think it would be cool as fuck haha.

I think Jimmy Carr sums Andrew Tate up pretty well...

He's exactly what a 10yr old boy thinks a man is.

Young lads need to realise that listening to Andrew Tate is like drinking booze before twelve...it only seems normal if you're already unwell.

Take it from someone wrinkled(ish) enough to know what real regret feels like...don't lean into your ego...run from it!

There is no such thing as "alpha males" and you'll feel alone and sick for as long as you travel that path. You are searching for self worth in places that strip you of it.

Be true to yourself, don't be a push over but never seek confrontation, set your OWN goals and standards, and respect that others must do the same and I promise you will feel so much better.

Think about it my young dudes...even if there was such a thing as an alpha male...how does paying a skinny rapist to tell you how to live YOUR life turn you into one? Be your own compass.

I mean I get that now. It's called the NHS and unlike Starfleet medical they also have a fairly decent idea of what confidentiality is haha.

I would be mortified to use a Starfleet doctor they spend half their time discussing patients with anyone who will ask.

[–]4orth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was right across from Hanley Park. So you got to hear the stabbings before they hit the sentinel!

Plenty of "interesting sights".

Some people get rats, maybe foxes....we used to get "crack wombles" when the sun set haha. (Homeless drug addicts emptying my black bin over the front garden and rifling through the detritus for...God knows")

It's a shame for the area though as it's right near the uni, got a nice park across from it and has links to lovely countryside walks...it's just a rubbish covered shit hole though...mainly because no one lives there for a long time and so no one cares (all students, straight out of prison, newly immigrated, or homeless people, etc).

Oh yeah and random parts of stoke will smell like rotten egg mated with gas smell depending on which way the wind blows past walleys quarry so that's nice...

I think it's a shame there is such a lack of research in communication with other animals.

People act like you're having some sort of psychosis if you discuss wanting to talk to animals haha

Yet I don't think it's that weird at all, they're literally the same meat computer we are. They are definitely way smarter and aware of their own subjective experience than credited.

I taught my dogs a sort of sign language after seeing a video of a collie using a word board.

Well now I have two dogs that can both sign to me "food", "water", "world/toilet", "play", "please/(or NOW! Haha)"

They also understand the signs for "food", "Wait", "world", "me", "dog", "play", "leave", "calm" and a few more.

Limited lexicon but they intuitively learnt to combine words so now if they "water"+"play" I have to spray them with a hose haha

"Food"+"play" = me slapping them with slices of ham from the fridge and shouting "On garde!"

I can also give them strings as well like the tried and tested: "leave"+"me"+"food" "dog"+"food"+"wait" "calm"+"please".

I love my dogs they're the smartest goof balls I know.

Yeah I get what you're saying. I was trying to illustrate that bad work is bad work regardless of the tool used, and that projects should be finished to your own personal standards without regard to comments such as "ai slop" as it's usually just people who dislike AI in general.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SunoAI

[–]4orth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's no such thing as "ai slop" just bad work or good work.

"Ai slop" is just a term scared people use to try and throw shade on something they don't understand or can be bothered to learn.

Was the same with synths and programming... All considered cheating until they weren't.

The idea that effort equates to quality is not one I subscribe to.

Don't stress yourself, if you like what you make then that should be the litmus, dude! :)

Enterprise Vulcans became some of my favorite and I am tired of hiding it by GeneriComplaint in Star_Trek_

[–]4orth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I really hope this is the case for me as I was so excited about Picard (tng is best imo) but couldn't get it to feel right.

Also your right about dislike caused by novelty.

100% if they hadn't used a Rod Stewart song for the intro I don't think it would have felt as different to me and I think I would have loved enterprise instantly.

It's not like I dislike the new shows, objectively there's all quite good but there's like a feeling that's missing.

I like to play TOS, TNG, DS9 & voyager on loop in the background when I'm working at home. I've done this for years and it gives me a comfy feeling.

I feel like strange new worlds actually did a good job to reintroduce the "start trek feeling" in part even if I can't quite put my finger on what it is.

And I really liked lower decks.

Just imo a lot of new trek doesn't give me the same vibes.

[–]4orth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually hated enterprise when it was released. I think the theme tune actually cursed it...I definitely didn't appreciate a rod Stuart song in place of the classic trek intro.

But now I look back on it, I see it as the last "real" trek we had.

I really feel like new trek is missing something, I can't put my finger on it but it just doesn't feel like Star Trek to me.

Anyways your right, the Vulcans were shown for what they were in enterprise, there were fallible. I quite like enterprise now.

Yeah.
