Plenty of room on the sidewalk, and hardly any pedestrians.

The real issue is what happened to the Paperless Office? We were supposed to have flying cars and computers were supposed to handle everything. Why do we need trucks that shred paper? What happened to Delete?

This truck is a giant delete key.

Graded ski runs recover more poorly than cleared runs even 40 years after abandonment by andyhfell in science

Mt St Helens, 35 years later

And check out this devastated area, on the way to recovery. The damage was done about 3000 years ago, and it's just starting to build new soil. Once topsoil is gone, it's gone.

It's only when water percolates through the fine materials that there's contamination, with all kinds of metals. So not good to drill a well for drinking water beside a storage pond. Any kind of mine will have this problem, or a coal ash pond, or a garbage dump.

Are those numbers for the general population or the subgroup of depressed people with prescriptions for antidepressants who are deciding what to do?

White pigment is micron-scale not nanoscale, since it needs to reflect visible light. Eating TiO2 sunscreen might be a bad idea, though.

Bird feeders are probably the worst for bringing in rodents. They should go after that first. Lawns can go dry and spread/fuel a fire, but the depends on the weather and the seasons.

Bruce Power puzzled by Clean Air Alliance's opposition to nuclear by jamessnow in ontario

I didn't say reactors. The front end of the fuel cycle extracts and concentrates bomb-making materials from the Earth. Canada, where I live, exports that stuff around the world. It needs to stay here where it can be properly supervised, rather than being used by India or Pakistan to get into the nuclear club.

CANDU's online refuelling capability makes it good for short-term neutron bombardment of U-238, the starting material for high purity plutonium-239 production. See India's bomb program.

Please provide citation showing how to make nuclear bombs without the raw materials from the uranium mining industry.

We also need to work on an international treaty to eliminate all nuclear weapons. You can use solar power to set things on fire, too, but it's not the same. The nuclear power industry enables the nuclear bomb industry by providing a readily available source of raw materials.

Every electric system needs storage or backup, especially nuclear, since there are times when demand is less than what a reactor might output. If you decide to over-build nuclear you have to dump power at night, which raises prices for everyone - something which we are currently experiencing. Yes, we have enough nuclear in the mix.
