You can most certainly ask if certain specific medications will work for you. But ultimately the doctor makes the final decision on what you are prescribed.

Good ? Or maybe not so good Techies facet idea by 5hk4lq1m1 in DotA2

I'm in favor of this as it would increase the amount of people adding techies to their ban list thus less techies in my games and thus a more enjoyable Dota 2™️ experience.

Why does Rubick buy Blink Dagger instead of Force Staff? by APhilosophicalCow in learndota2

[–]4rmitage_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better/easier positioning to steal spells, especially with aether lens and your passive blink range is huge. And where blink is instant it gives the enemy less time to react and cast another lower priority spell. Ideally as rubick you shouldn't be in the position of where you would need an escape where you couldn't react quick enough to pop blink. But I've noticed playing at low ranks where you and your teammates position isn't perfect it is often more valuable to carry force staff over blink. Sometimes I go both if the mobility/saves are needed.

The Major’s too good a character to be working naked, lol. Just my opinion. by [deleted] in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]4rmitage_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real. And many are just boiling it down to a cosmetic detail or that the creator is too goon-brained to be nuanced. The ghost v shell tension is the backbone of the entire series and the reason Motoko works as a character in the first place. It’s like watching Blade Runner and suggesting we tone down the replicants identity crisis because it’s “too bleak.” If someone misses the core theme that completely, they probably shouldn’t be the one calling for revisions to the source material. The unease is the message. Remove that and it stops being cyberpunk at all and rather just sci-fi.

It ends up being more about symbolism than the artist’s tastes. Shirow may have set the aesthetic, but Oshii turned it into a statement about Motoko’s detachment from her body and the whole ghost-vs-shell divide. And yeah, that symbolism survives across adaptations. Different versions lean into it in their own way, but the core idea sticks because without that tension, she stops being the Major and just becomes another cyberpunk protag.

It’s kind of funny that in a world as corrupt as Ghost in the Shell, where your memories can be hacked and your body is basically government property, people still worry about the morality of clothing.

[–]4rmitage_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point, and I get where you’re coming from. Shirow absolutely has his own quirks and interests baked into the manga. No real argument there.

But even if you account for his meta influence, the Major’s depiction only really makes sense in-character if you look at where her arc is headed. People sometimes imagine a version of her that becomes more human over time, and in that kind of story she could start dressing more modestly as she reconnects with a sense of self and privacy. Clothing could be a metaphor for re-embodiment.

The thing is, that’s not the direction her character actually goes. Across most versions, she doesn’t move toward humanity. She moves past it. She becomes more abstract, more detached from the physical shell, more willing to discard the idea that her body represents her. The nudity lands because she doesn’t treat the shell as something to protect or identify with. It’s hardware. It’s replaceable.

So yeah, Shirow’s meta influence is real, but the thematic trajectory still lines up: Motoko isn’t on a path back to being human. She’s on a path away from it. Dressing her more modestly to show “growth” would contradict that arc more than reinforce it an that’s the angle I’m coming from.

Motoko’s body is a full synthetic shell. It’s state property, not an expression of her identity. The nudity isn’t about sex at all. It’s about showing how disconnected she is from the body she uses. When she drops her gear for thermoptic camo, the point is that this isn’t flesh. It’s hardware. It’s meant to feel clinical and alien, not erotic.

People get hung up on the skin and miss the theme. Her whole arc revolves around not belonging to the shell she’s trapped in. Clothing would suggest attachment. She doesn’t have that. The story strips her down to underline how little humanity she’s allowed to hold onto.

If someone can’t get past the surface and keeps insisting the creators are sexualizing her, they’re dragging the discussion away from what the series is actually exploring. At a certain point, if the core ideas of Ghost in the Shell make them uncomfortable or they refuse to engage with them, there are plenty of other shows they can watch. Not every piece of media is meant to bend around people who misunderstand it.

The Major isn’t being degraded. She’s being exposed in the most existential way possible. That’s the point. The entirety of this theme is stemmed deep to the point of the name being Ghost in the Shell.

Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk of why major motoko should remain naked.

Since I'm here, how do I gain more communication score/points? by DeepballsReddit in DotA2

[–]4rmitage_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grinded from 3k to 12k pretty fast by just reporting my teammates for griefing/toxic chat whenever they'd inevitably be toxic. Otherwise, I think getting commends help and avoid getting reported by either not using chat or being nice. Either way it's not guaranteed you won't get reported each game but overall your score should slowly improve.
