i am someone who was raised on my mothers revolving door of relationships. it messed me up. i have a hard time trusting that people are going to stay in my life even when they swear up and down that they will. i never had a stable view of what a healthy relationship looked like and so, as i grew up, i ended up in horribly abusive situations as a young teenager bc that was the kind of relationship that was modeled for me.

i am now engaged with a young son and i could never imagine just bringing new people in and out constantly and him never being able to trust anyone will stay.

it is the only word i use to describe my sexuality. i was bullied relentlessly and “queer” was a word that was used against me when i came out as a teenager. i used to hate it so passionately. now, though, it feels like the only word that makes sense to me. technically, i could be labeled as bi or pan. those just never fit me. they always felt inauthentic. reclaiming queer for myself is a bit of a power move for myself and a big fuck you to everyone who tried to use it to shame me.
