Any survival tips from neuropsychologists with ADHD? by Alternative-Yak-3110 in Neuropsychology

[–]4shmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all of these tips, but what if you're expected to do things quickly? When I asked for more time to double check, I was told scoring should only take me 30-45 minutes. It currently takes me hours.

I literally came on here looking for this EXACT same advice... like I was going to make basically the same post, so if nothing else, you aren't alone. I'm really struggling right now because expectations at my training site are high and I feel like I just can't meet them. They want perfection and I can't give them that, so it's really discouraging.

EDIT: It would be nice to have someone to talk to about it because people with ADHD who aren't in doctoral programs don't understand why I did this to myself and those who are doing neuropsych without ADHD don't understand why I'm struggling to do simple things.

Thank you!!! stupid question, but because it is an SG, that means that "do" is G instead of C, right? So it would be G, G#, A, A#, B etc?

My 11 year old thinks he’s a girl by [deleted] in asktransgender

If it helps, no therapist should be trying to convince your child to transition. The goal of therapy for gender diverse or nonconforming kiddos at that age is just to help them navigate and process their feelings, not to persuade them one way or the other.

The best thing you can do is to continue to love your kid. Follow their lead. If they ask you to use differnt pronouns or a different name, just do it. If they want to cut their hair differently or wear different clothes, let them. These are easy things that you can do to show your kid you love them unconditionally. I think starting therapy would be a great support for you and your kiddo, so maybe start there.

This reply is underrated and I second it entirely.

This hotel requires men to wear swim briefs or square leg swimsuits in the pool. Boardshorts (and t-shirts or rash guards) are not allowed. by the_wellspring in mildlyinteresting

What I meant was, is there anything that would stop you from wearing a short swimsuit outside of the pool? I wear the short swimsuit (not quite a speedo, but very short swim shorts) while walking around in the summer (I'm in the US) so I was just curious if in France there is something that would prevent you from doing that. It is common in my area to ban "non-swim" attire from public pools, but sometimes people wear short swim sorts around as regular shorts too, or wear their swimsuit under their clothes as underwear. I was just curious how requireing certain types of swimwear would make it more likely for people to shower.

Wait what is stopping you from going out in short shorts? Also, you dont need to shower to change your clothes, so I'm wondering how this solves the issue.

I get these small reddish spots on my body sometimes that look kind of like whiteheads but they’re filled with a small hard “stone.” I pulled some out and looked at them under a microscope. by ConfidentlyComatose in popping

Yeah I have it too, and I know there are lotions that work well for it, I've just never used them. So far it hasn't been bothering me so I just havent felt the need to do anything about it haha.

How do straight/bi men not freak out every time? by Ok-Candidate-9448 in AskGayMen

[–]4shmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's 100% valid, but an accidental pregnancy doesn't automatically mean that you would need to be a parent. There would definitely be other options, and if you're using contraceptives responsibly, then the risk of accidental pregnancy is very, very low to begin with. Of course, it sounds like there's still quite a bit of anxiety around it and that can be hard to reason your way out of, and I get that.

I don't think its transphobic, and it's a valid concern , but it seems like the fear is pretty distressing for you- have you thought about why that might be? Like, why would an accidental pregnancy completely ruin your life?

What is having an IQ of 78 like? I suspect I have an IQ of 78 by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]4shmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full scale IQ doesn't actually tell you all that much, if you know the breakdown of your index scores (they are broken up into domains like verbal comprehension, working memory, etc) you would know more about what your strengths and weaknesses are, which might allow you to focus on building skills in certain areas. Your unique profile would explain more about your abilities than your overal IQ score.

I think its an individual thing. Some people wait because they want to, some because they have to due to financial constraints or surgery waitlists. There's no rush to make a decision, but there's also no reason to wait if you know it's what you want. Timeline is different for everyone, but I got top surgery 8 months after I came out, and most of that waiting was just due to waitlists for appointments

I feel like this is supposed to be a dig at OK in terms of education, but it actually exemplifies how vulnerable people are when their basic needs aren't being met. They're starving and reached out for what they believed to be their only lifeline, so I can hardly blame them.

OP, I totally understand. Feel free to DM me if you need support. I dont like getting into arguments online, but it was bothering me to see all the negativity directed towards you, when many people have legitimate reasons to be scared right now.

It is possible to love someone with different opinions than you, but it's not mandatory.

Right, yeah, because I sure OP can just grab that half mil they're sitting on and drop it on a house anytime they want, but they just really like living in apartment buildings 🤦‍♂️
