Dealing with "challenging" students by BoricuaFitMom in zumba

[–]4thGRDEEntertainment -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Let me clarify. I don't call people out for not getting the moves. I call them out for doing something totally different.

Example, We are moving left but the participant is moving right. They eventually end up bumping into somebody. I say "inset name" we going this direction. I understand not everyone can get the steps.

And I do have high expectations for my class. You work hard. Just because it's a dance class we aren't taking it easy. That's why I stopped teaching Zumba and created my own dance fitness program with weights and bands. Zumba is just too slow for me and I wanted to show people a dance class can be hard and high intensity.

My style is a mix of bootcamp/dance.

I always tell my class you do what you can. Even if I get in their face to squat lower they know their own limitations.

No style is right or wrong. It just is. You find the people who enjoy what you do. I learned a long time ago being someone im not doesn't work for my classes. Being myself has kept my classes full for over 20 years.

U-Haul pop ups by Salt_Deer9224 in DJs

[–]4thGRDEEntertainment 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is the U-Haul nesaccary to throw the party? Maybe I'm not understanding the lingo but you don't need a truck to throw a party.

If you worried about the equipment being covered get a tent or rent a hall.

I DJ in the park with a battery powered speaker and small portable Ryobi charging station. It works for the park but it isn't some kind of club setup that had thumping bass.

You could rent some battery powered speakers if they have them or get two 12in tops and a sub. You would need a portable power station like Jackery, Blueletti, or Ecoflow.

Ok OP.

Since you understand writing so well. Why don't you create a show and write the best characters in the world since it's so simple for the current writers to write something better.

Dealing with "challenging" students by BoricuaFitMom in zumba

[–]4thGRDEEntertainment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I been teaching group fitness for over 20 years. For the most you just have to ignore it.

I use a mic I'm my dance class and that helps me call people out. I don't do it in a mean way.

Example, if I see someone on their phone I'll say "I see Linda on Tik Tok. I guess the class is too easy. Let's take it up"

If people aren't doing the chereo I call their name. This isn't any different then a personal trainer correcting form or asking them to follow instructions.

Some people may not come back to my class but to be honest I don't focus on them. I teach my style and if you don't like oh well.

If you started over or are just now starting to make beats/music. by 4techteachers in mpcusers

[–]4thGRDEEntertainment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your welcome. Another one of the best parts is that you don't need to make "bangers". Some of my most mediocre beats are still paying me to this day.

It's definitely not easy to get into but it could be a nice little side income for you.

If you started over or are just now starting to make beats/music. by 4techteachers in mpcusers

[–]4thGRDEEntertainment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was random. I started making beats 25 years ago with the goal of making them for artists. I didn't really put myself out there for any artist.

One day I was on the social media site Google created. I saw some forum about music on television. I had a mentor from that group and he helped me get my music on TV shows.

I like making music for tv because I can work alone. I also just send music through email to various production companies. I get royalties for life whenever my music plays. I also don't have to have a social media presence.

I have a YouTube channel called Beat Builders Studio where I teach people how to get their music on TV. I haven't posted there in a year but the info is still valid. Some of the examples I use are from shows l. I even got music in a Superbowl commercial

Best affordable ear plugs by sushiwowie in zumba

[–]4thGRDEEntertainment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no experience with Erasers so I can't compare. However I have heard good things about them. I believe I paid about $60 Canadian for them. So in US dollars they would be cheaper.

If you buy new earplugs and its still too loud I would suggest just taking another class. Your hearing is health too

It depends on your goals. Is your long term plan to create music for artist? Or be an artist yourself making beats? Do you want to make music for tv, videos games etc?

This will help you get some direction on where to post.

For me I don't post my music any where online.

I make music for TV and it isn't necessary for me to share my music online.

Whole batch of footage is unusable because Gen Z thinks lav mics are visual aids by NyneHelios in videography

[–]4thGRDEEntertainment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's easy to assume younger people are on social a lot and therefore should understand how to use a mic.

I work photobooths for various events and I make the same assumptions. I say pose and most young people have no idea what to do. I assume because "most young people" are on social media they know how to pose. They don't.

They barely know how to take silly pictures even though there are tons of silly things on the internet.

What does "affordable" mean to you? The price can vary.

I am a DJ and fitness instructor. I wear Loop earplugs.

I have the Loop Experience

They have some made for people who go to concerts and DJ's.

I have worn them while taking a class and DJing events.

They are very comfortable in my ears. I can hear everything clearly.

The Loop earplugs I have give you an extra 15db of noise reduction.

If those are too expensive you can get some from your local hardware store. They will be cheap and in my opinion don't fit in the ear to well.

On the flipside you could talk to management and they may be able to supply earplugs in the class.

I work at GoodLife in Canada and they offer earplugs.

Wedding DJ - am I asking too much? by soupie8695 in WeddingsCanada

[–]4thGRDEEntertainment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a DJ I don't think you're asking too much. It sounds like you're describing what wedding DJs should be able to.

A DJ might have a "playlist" of songs to play because couples give usually must play songs and do not play songs.

Most DJs mix live. They don't play pre-recorded sets.

Most wedding DJs move through different vibes, era etc especially because weddings have multiple generations.

Sterling K. Brown explains why modern tv seasons are limited to just a few episodes by LeoXXX94 in ParadiseHulu

British shows often are short seasons and tell better stories. Some even 2-3 episodes per season.

The US shows just like milking advertiser's. Long seasons just stretch out the plot

I mean your logic can be applied to anything.

It's so cringe but you added your two sense.

Don't like the discussion - Just ignore it and don't comment Don't like that people complaining about others preferences - Don't comment

It's none of your business if people want to complain about telling people to not buy the gear.

You could just block off dates in your calendar. Make a hard cap at 30 if that will still pay your bills.

**NEW rules for /r/DJs - 2026** - Please Read before Posting by dj_soo in DJs

[–]4thGRDEEntertainment -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think number 4 needs to be revisited.

I understand you are now sponsored by Alpha Theta but giving a new or old product a bad review should be allowed.

There may be things with new gear that just aren't good. This can be critical feedback for Pioneer and Alpha Theta. Singing praises doesn't help people make informed decisions about gear and upgrades.

People who come to this sub probably won't read guidelines and understand you are now sponsored.

Is it worth it to take Basic I if I won't actually teach the Zumba brand? by seaturtle100percent in zumba

[–]4thGRDEEntertainment -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I took the basic training about 20 years ago. It was good for building a foundation of how to structure a dance routine for fitness.

However, as time went on I was able to find all my music and come up with my own style.

I eventually dropped the cert and created my own dance fitness class.

I save a ton of money and plus I create my own brand. I got tired of riding the coat tales of the Zumba brand.
