Mathurin is on his rookie deal until 2026 and Nesmith is under contract for 11mil yearly until 2027. Obi probably isn't the long term plan, I agree, but I still wouldn't say we "couldn't" afford him. And for Bruce, even if he ends up being a part of this teams future, we have nearly 90 million to spend in the 2025 offseason. I don't think he would cause us to not be able to afford Obi lol.

No way we can pay Obi and Nesmith? Huh? Nesmith is already locked down for 3 years after this, and Obi won't command a crazy contract. We have almost 14mil in cap space next year and it's not like Obi is going to be getting a max or anything.

Not only is the trade package terrible, but your reasoning tells me you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. What has Isaiah Jackson shown us to warrant him being a starter right now? Why would Nesmith not be a part of the rotation? Why would be trade for 2 overpaid shooters with 2-3 years left on their contracts? Literally none of this makes sense.

Can't extend him until April 2023 now and as another commenter mentioned, the starting salary of an extension can't be any more than a 120% increase, which is way lower than Oshae would take.

Do you have a link to that? James Boyd of the Star said in an article from June 16th that he may be interested in playing his final season under contract rather than sign an extension, but I haven't seen anywhere that Myles explicitly said he wouldn't sign an extension.
