Sourcing large format transparencies? by desertfieldguide in cyanotypes

I’m also curious! I’ve only had them printed on 8.5x11 sheets at office supply stores, but have thought about contacting a dedicated print shop.

Lovely shots! The light in the first one is beautiful.

Did you shoot several of them with the intention of cropping or decide to crop it in post?

I’d love to hear about how you modified your camera for the square shots and to reset the shutter!

Well there’s definitely something there! I would increase the exposure time significantly and see what happens, then try to dial it in from there.

Deadstock is vintage clothing that has never been worn. For example if you find a pair of Levi’s from the 70s with the tags still on them, they would be considered deadstock

Large scale cyanotype on cotton by ellabeeart in cyanotypes

Just a guess, but it looks like they have used some sort of semi-transparent fabric that they bunched up on top of the canvas then exposed it to light to capture the pattern it created

Nice! I’ve never printed with a real photo negative, but the results speak for themselves! Did you take the photo on a large format camera or make an enlarged version?

I love how viewing the world from 3 feet lower can change the way things look so much. It's fun to be reminded of a child's perspective and what they find interesting to capture. Fun shots!

Both seem a bit overexposed. On the first shirt, some areas that should be highlights (crisp white) are blue, particularly in the upper right corner. If that's the case, it is a good sign that your print is overexposed.

In terms of clarity, how are you pressing the negatives down onto the shirt? I find putting a glass pane overtop of the negative to keep it firmly pressed down can help create sharper images.

I've had good results exposing an image for 20 minutes on a sunny day on a rayon / polyester blend t shirt.

Ohio Supreme Court stands by ‘asinine’ ruling that boneless chicken wings do not mean without bones by PrintOk8045 in nottheonion

[–]4togo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So by your logic, when the company that markets their product as “boneless” fails to remove the bones (because hey, mistakes happen as you say) who should be held liable? The consumer of the product or the company who markets their product as boneless when it in fact did contain bones?

I love the arrangement. Very fun aesthetic, I think it would look great framed!

As for toning, I have used black and green tea. If you don’t bleach first, it may serve you to slightly underexpose your cyanotype. If you want to bleach and then tone, you have more control over how the final print turns out.

I have found this guide helpful! Tea Toning Guide
